Big Ships and Dolphins

This morning we went for an early walk to the breakwater rocks and noticed a big freight ship coming in. Mom (who seems to have gone crazy with her ship watching) wanted to get some pics as it came close by. While we were waiting on the rocks a pod of dolphins (we counted 8 of them) also came swimming  near to where we were sitting. They were way too fast for Mom to get any really good photo's of  (you will need to biggify the pics to see them) but it was awesome watching them as they were only about 20 feet away from us. In fact - Mom was so busy watching them she almost forgot the freighter ship as it went by - this one was called the Venezia and it is 265 meters long and registered out of Hong Kong. By the look of it we were thinking the containers were all empty as the ship was riding very high in the water. Did you know there is cool web site called "Vessel Finder" that tells you all about the ships and where they currently are in the world!
Just watching the world go by
Does this make us rock hounds?
There she blows !
Fast little dolphins

  4. The only thing we see in the river that goes by our house is big logs, sticks, and occasionally boaters who have had to much to drink. We have never saw a dolphin!!!!

  12. How lovely to be able to see dolphins from the shore. Some have been spotted in the sea where we live but nobody who is not in a boat has been lucky enough to see them.

  21. How cool seeing the dolphins! They were probably hoping you would feed them. I notice that tanker doesn't have the real tall towers like my mom used to watch. Sounds like yours has a new fun hobby! Love Dolly
