The Squirrel Chase Splat

For some reason I have taken a real dislike to the squirrels in MY park. There are always fighting amongst themselves and making weird noises so when I saw them the other day - I was off so quickly I pulled the Mom right off her feet and she went SPLAT on the ground. Luckily we were under some pine trees at the time and there was a thick layer of pine needles but she was still pretty shaken and her hands and knees are all bruised (which is why we haven't been doing the rounds and saying hello to you all - she ALWAYS supervises what I type and hasn't been up to it the last few days). As some of you know my Mom spent A LOT of time in hospital last year and one of the side affects of not being able to eat for nearly a year is that her body pulled calcium from her bones - leaving her now with severe osteoporosis (brittle bones) so any kind of fall could REALLY hurt my Mom and we have to be VERY careful. Normally I walk along so quietly with Mom, not taking any notice of what is happening around - but those pesky squirrels - something about them just makes me go crazy. Hopefully we can get around to all your bloggies in the next day or two and see what everyone has been doing.

  1. Oh Dear, did she break any bones or just really bruised and in pain.

My Vickie is a total clutze but so far I havn't broke anything of hers with my enthusiasm.

Anyway, give her a hug and a nuzzle.

  2. Oh dear, that is not a good thing to happen. Our Mom has severe osteoporosis too and she has to be very careful not to fall. She has taken a few tumbles with us and that is why we can now only walk two at a time. She probably should really do just one at a time, but then she might be walking all day long.

Hope your Mom is OK and no more squirrel chasing while you are on leash, OK?

  3. Oh, so happy that your mom was not seriously injured! But it is not your fault, Reilly, it's those darn squirrels!

  5. Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about that- no human likes to fall like that. Skye is a little squirrel crazy herself, so I always use her Easy Walk Harness when she's on leash. She's too much muscle to risk letting her pull. Of course, off leash I let the dogs give those critters hell. They seem to be getting fat and lazy, so I figure I'm giving the rodents some exercise!

  8. Golly! You need to curb your enthusiasm there and be mindful of mom. You don't want to break her.

  10. This is not good, Reilly. You need to be much nicer to your mom. The squirrels aren't worth her getting hurt!

  12. Hey Reilly? Did Denny and Jackson give you crazy ideas to make you start chasing squirrels? That's right. Blame the little ones!

I hope your Mom is OK, I'm sure she is very sore though, probably pulled muscles. And then there's the skinned knees and such. Hope you're being a very very good boy to make up for it.

  16. It was Darth Squirrel that pulled you over to the Dark Nut. Those Jedi Squirrel's are dog gone dangerous.
