I am stepping on my soapbox once again.
Word verification sucks!!! And the new word verification sucks even more! If you can read the numbers on the first one - good for you and your guess is as good as mine if that is a 'u' or a 'v' on the second one. For people with dyslexia this "prove you are not a robot" makes life annoying to say the least. On average I have to click though 4-5 different ones before I can find one I can read and even then I rarely get it right. As much as I hate to admit it - I don't visit peeps with word verification turned on as much - simply because it drives me crazy!
And really - there is no need for this word verification - you can just changes your settings to "comment moderation - ALWAYS". That way you can see the posts BEFORE they are posted - delete the ones you don't like and post the ones you do. Blogger does an awesome job of filtering out spam automatically for you and I am lucky if I get 1 a week that slips through.
Here is what I have my setting done like......Okay stepping down off my soapbox now - but feel free to share this info with others :)
Yea that wordy stuff sucks. We have had our issues with it too.

Goose
Yeap, we just leave their blog, sometimes we try to leave a comment and tell them no one will come back because of the verification thingy, we got three new furiends that did that, and now they are getting more followers and comments. We leaned that from Jazzi before we even started blogging. Maybe this post should be copied and put out by everyone, if its ok we will do it, just let us know.

SO Uhm yeah...I got your prezzie (thanks so much it was all delish!). But the post guy left it INSIDE our porch. I has doggy door from house to porch...so..all that is left is...erm...some packaging! I will blog about it next! Mommy was NOT very happy when she got home..I must admit...I kind of regret eating EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

We are so there with you. Hate it. Sometimes four attempts five attempts scream and give up. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Spot on, Cowspot Mom. And the sad part is that some of the bloggers don't even realize the verification is turned on. It is bad enough trying to read the letters but sometimes the box with the numbers is so dark that Mom thinks she must be going blind.
ReplyDeleteHope Mom is doing better today.

We are soooooooo with you. Sometimes we persist because we know that's new bloggers who have the @#@# thing turned on and we want them to get comments. BUT we HATE them. We are not ROBOTS, just beings who can't read the blurred characters!!!
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, bella & roxy
oh no, I use this but only because I was getting about 60 emails a day of comments that were spam, even if I have to approve first it was really annoying getting so many emails!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I will try the "registered" users only.
Thanks for the tips!
Ugh yes! SO ANNOYING!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have dyslexia, and I'm finding the new version very difficult to read. They smooosh the letters together too much.
ReplyDeleteWe've got it off AND we have a badge - I think from your last post about this!!
ReplyDeleteDoes seem much more difficult lately. I will try up to 4 times, and then give up.
ReplyDeleteI have to say thank you, again, for bringing this up. Unfortunately, I find myself not commenting on a lot of blogs because I can't get the word verification right- after about three tries, I tend to just give up.
ReplyDeleteFor that matter, I have a really, really hard time reading blogs where the background is a super dark color with light/white text. For me, its like the entire computer screen is swimming around. I've had some very interesting blogs who I stop reading because they switch to doing this kind of color scheme.
Sometimes I have to use my glasses and a magnifying glass to see waht some of them want.
ReplyDeletedrives me nuts....
Thanks for that. Mom hates it too as she always has to squeeze her eyes to read those dumb letters and numbers.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, your post also made her double check whether she has turned off this annoying stuff as well.
Love,
Eva
We don't like that word veri stuff either and your mom is right - you take a stab at what you THINK you see and hope it's right. bleh!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
I'm with you. I dread the word verification and sometimes just type WTF in the box because I can't even begin to read it and I require a second chance. Blogger does a great job with spam detection and, yes, there is always the moderation option.
ReplyDeleteMango Momma
We're with you too. Mum hates it and lately it's nearly impossible to decypher. We haven't got it and never seem to get Spam. Hope your weekend is good. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteSo how did the Dr. visit go?

I'm with you mate; drives me nuts. It's hard enough for a greyhound to read! Deccy x
ReplyDeleteI have had a lot of trouble reading those numbers too! I have been getting a lot of spam lately so I may do the comment moderation. Thanks for posting the instructions! :)
ReplyDeleteHate that stuff. Just away to change mine so that robots can comment if they want to...

They are very hard to read. Sometimes I just guess and it accepts it. Weird. Sometimes I dont leave a comment because its just to hard.
ReplyDeleteHey Reilly,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info.
I took your advice and I visited your blog.
You have great information.
Thumbs up!!
