They will not go quietly,
the pets who’ve shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still can make us think
we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them… and always will.

hugs to you... we are so sorry... and we will miss them... a part of us is missing when they leave us... and it grows not back ;o(
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tribute to your boys. Sadly we all have gone through it and know the feeling that sometimes it seems like they are still with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute. You had two beautiful boys and it is so heart breaking to lose both at once.
ReplyDeleteThey were blessed to be so loved and treasured while they were here. As our oldest approaches the age we lost Bailey I keep reminding myself to treasure the time with have with her not to dread the time we will lose her. Your posts always demonstrated that to me and I thank you for it.
That is such a touching poem. And there will always be a place in our hearts too for your two beautiful boys. So sad to have lost both of them in such a short space of time.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs,
Gail and Bertie.
We can't imagine a dogless house.....so lonely. We know how much you miss them.
ReplyDeleteTrue love hurts, but it's worth it and I will always smile that I got to meet them both, and walk in their parks and on their beaches and give them belly rubs and comfort Denny when he was scared and hug on Reilly. They were unique, beautiful, sweet boys and I will never forget them.
ReplyDeleteMy tears flow for you. It is a huge hole Reilley and Denny have left, both in your heart and your home.
ReplyDeleteWe never forget our angels. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute. It is so incredibly hard to lose one furkid and you lost two too quickly. Hugs to you, Miss Bree♥
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago we lost all three of our dogs within a very short period of time. At our age we thought that maybe we should not get any more dogs, but the pain of no feet running around, no one to meet us at the door was just to hard to bare. So we got 2 puppies. It was the best thing for us. The whole house is alive with love and happiness. My heart hurts for you. Sending love and hugs but I know that will not help with your pain.
ReplyDeleteLove, Bentley and Pat
There footprints will be forever on your heart.
ReplyDeleteYou will always miss them but some day those memories will bring smiles instead of tears. They were such beautiful boys. RIP Reilly and Denny.
ReplyDeleteOf course you miss them ... and will forever! They were such beauties, and they were here for too short a time. Still, I hope you'll find a new fur-kid soon -- not to take Reilly and Denny's place, but just to keep you company with their antics, to curl up with you on a rainy evening, to ease you through the period of grief.

ReplyDeleteAfter a decade, my angel Jade still stomps around my heart. Gone but never forgotten! Much Love, YAM xx
