We just got the report back from the vet and as we feared it is not good news. Denny (best known as Dweeb #2) will need surgery on his knee. We have an appointment with the specialist vet in Memphis on September 11th to see which will be the best option - either the scope or actual surgery. The really hard thing is they say the Dweeb is going to have be confined for six weeks after the surgery (as is like a play pen - confined) and Mom and Dad will have to carry him outside when he needs to go out. The Wuzster is NOT going to like this one little bit. Mom is very worried what this will do to his psyche as we all know what a "FRAGILE" minded little dweeb he is. Personally I think the Dweeb is just attention seeking and is just copying my occasional limpies - he is a dweeb after all!
What a bummer :(
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Denny's psyche will be just fine afterward. I, too, worried about the effects of confinement on Oreo's personality, but he pulled without any issues.
We'll be thinking about you.
Good luck with knee surgery. Lucky thing Denny is small as we could just see someone trying to carry Sherman (74lbs) out.
ReplyDeleteWe think he'll come out better if Nietzche is right. He is the hooman that said "That which does not kill us makes us stronger."
Frankly, we think it just makes you really sick.
Essex & Sherman
Good luck with the next step. I sure hope it goes well!
ReplyDeleteSorry he has to have surgery, but in the long run it will be best. We just hope he doesn't need the same surgery on the other leg too. Good luck with the confinement - we see lots of yummy bones in Denny's future.

Bummer, Denny! We like the OP Pack's way of thinking. Lots of bones and yummy chews to pass the time.
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,

It will seem like forever during the recovery, but I know Denny will be OK. He is a strong little doggie with a loving family. Wishing you all the best.

Gosh Denny, we are so sorry. I had to stay in a crate for a week once, after I ate a tennis ball and I thought I would go nutso.
ReplyDeleteTime for some mental stimulation.
Better get some movies to watch and lots of cheetos.
Sorry Dude,
We will keep you in our prayers.
Love

Oh poor Denny! I'm sure his recovery will be quick though!

Oh dear, we are so sorry to hear that Denny boy needs the knee surgery and he will be confined for six weeks. I think the confinement won't affect his personality as he is at home with his brothers and his mom and dad all the time. He might feel even better as he gets lots of care and love.
ReplyDeleteMika had his FHO after he was knocked down by a car, luckily he could still walk/limp after the surgery so we didn't have to carry him in and out. The hard part is the physio-therapy but somehow we pulled through it.
We think Denny is going to be fine!
Hi Denny, I know exactly how it'll feel. When I had surgery on my bad, I was confined to an x-pen for six weeks. At first my back was pretty sore, probably from the stitches but as time progressed and I was a bit more mobile, it got really, really boring. My dad burned up his four weeks of vacation watching over me and looking after the #1 and #2's because I couldn't stand to do those things anymore. So he was taught by the vet to do those things for me. I also got alot of interesting toys, stuffies and things that my dad put treats into that I had to bat and flip over and throw around to get treats out of and that helped to pass the time. He also petted me and exercised my rear leggies alot. We got to know each other better too. Then he got me my first wheelchair and took me out for a walk. We ran and ran and overdid it. I was pretty sore the next day and my dad got heck from my mom...again...but we did the same thing the next day. So don't worry Denny, your peeps will do their absolute best for you and I bet that they'll even mark the days off for you. Best of luck little buddy. You'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteDenny knows you all love him. Yes, even you Reilly. So he will be fine. But I can imagine how scared you all are for him. Play nice Reilly, he's probably hurting.
ReplyDeleteSending lots of good vibes to Denny. And lots of patience to him and his family for the recovery period :) Denny has been added to the POTP site. Lots of Power of the Paw coming his way!
ReplyDeleteWaggin at ya,
Roo
I'll be sending good thoughts to you, too. It's so hard confining them because you can't tell them that it's for their own good.
ReplyDeleteMy Lexi may have to have knee surgery too, so I know how you are feeling.
Hopefully, though, he will be good as new when he recovers.
Awwwww, poor pup! That sucks a lot. Perhaps you two can learn how to limp in unison as a really great trick. Feel better Denny!!
ReplyDeleteDenny we will have our paws crossed for you. Sorry to hear about your knee.
ReplyDeletePOTP from the DWM- we know that all will fo well for Denny!
ReplyDeleteSending hugs your way.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this news! I hope Denny does well with his surgery and recovers quickly!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the news. Denny is young, he'll heal up quickly.
ReplyDeleteWe're so sorry to hear this news, but glad it is something that can be cured with surgery. Keeping our paws crossed for you, dude.
