The Mom's itchy scratching has been getting worse and spreading so she called her doctor and he told her to come straight in and see him. He thinks she is is having an allergic reaction to the pain medication she is on so they gave her a shot in the butt and more pills to take.
Over all he is really happy with the surgery...... he even showed her the photo's he took while he was doing her surgery and showed her how big the area was and the mesh going in. For some reason Mom wasn't all that impressed seeing her insides like that ......... but she was REALLY happy when he took the drains out today which made her super happy as the one thing she really really hates more than anything is those drains.
We on the other paw have been the devoted, loyal, loving puppies we should be. (Did I also mention we are also totally BORED !!!!!) We wait patiently by Mom's bed for HOURS on end - with only the occasional scratch on the head and the drop of a cookie to nourish us. We follow Mom when ever she moves and we eat all the foodibles she leaves so dad doesn't see she isn't eating much ......it is tough job but someone has to do it. We give her our best sad pleading eyes ..not to make her feel guilty about not taking us for walkies but to encourage her to get better quick so she can take us walkies and adventuring again. It is a tough job being a care giver for a human....but we are experts at it now.
You two are wonderful caregivers. I knowyour mom aspects aa everything you do.
ReplyDeleteHope the new medicine makes the itchiness stop.

Good for you guys, eating up all the evidence. But you tell your Mom that she has to eat enough healthy stuff to keep her good to go when the doctor says it's ok to go on adventures again!
ReplyDeleteYou are both doing a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteWhy do doctors always think we want to see the photos of our insides? Ugh. I had an outpatient procedure and the doctor gave me my very own copy of the inside of my bladder. I'm like - "Oh good, I can frame this". It's crazy! Lol.
Glad to hear your mom is doing better and that butt shot helped her get over the allergic reaction! Sounds like everything else is looking pretty good though. Praying for a speedy recovery so you two dogs can get your mom out and about again! (Good job on eating her leftovers. Blueberry said she'd be right over to help out with that...) ;)
Hugs and Licks.
Its a ruff job but some doggies hafta to take care of the peeps. What would they do without us???

After a few surgeries mom thought she was allergic to latex too. Seems it was the antibiotics they gave her during surgery, clyndamycin because she's allergic to amphicillin. She gets a flesh eating rash so she really does sympathize with you! Her doctor thought it was fun for her to see the insides of her shoulder that was enough for her! Please take care of yourself and heal!
ReplyDeleteWTF??? Why oh WHY do dogtors thinks we would WANT to see our INSIDES????
ReplyDeleteGeesh. Gross. Yuk. Ma would like to keep them the mystery they SHOULD be.
It's almost as bad as the dentist askin' if I want to see the hole in my tooth before he fills it!!! Uh, NO!!! Big fat NO!!! Geesh.
Okays, I thinks Ma has gotten that outta her system...
Yea! Shot in your Moms hinnie!! Ma says that's a good thingie, cause it'll make your Moms feel betters.
I, however, do not see the upshot to a needle in your ass. Guess it's a peep thing...

Oh gosh - sorry we're so late! We've been thinking of you & meaning to check out how you're doing but things have been so hectic (esp with our overseas visitor) that we're so behind on blogs again...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that's great news that the doctor thinks the surgery went well and yay for taking the drains out!
Really feel for you about the itchiness, though - that would drive me crazy! I hope the extra medication is working and the allergic reaction has died down by the time you get this comment! :-)
Reilly & Denny sound like the BEST nurses!
