We were off in MY little park today - exploring off the beaten track like we do - mom calls it "going bush". With all the rain we have had over the last couple of weeks there are little trickling creeks everywhere and some a bit more than trickles. We came across one that was about four foot wide and Mom was just pondering what was the best way to get across it when a big old frog suddenly jumped into the water and when Mom looked to see it she noticed a little snake sitting right there a few feet to our right. She snapped a couple of pics quickly and then because she knows snakes pick up vibrations she stomped her foot and Mr Snake just slid away. (Okay - we admit it - we doggies didn't even see it! - Mom says that is probably a good thing)
As you can see - the trees are finally starting to turn green - we figure in a couple of weeks we will have our shady glen back again. In the meantime we are enjoying the scent from all the native dogwoods which are flowering like crazy.
I agree with your mom, it's better you haven't seen Mr. Snaky. But now my mom is missed, she only read your headline and ran away hehehe. have a great friday!
ReplyDeleteShivers to mergatroid. Snakes - oh heavens NO. Ya'll please be careful my friends. Slithery little creatures scare the heck out of this oinker - Squeal! XOXO - Bacon
ReplyDeleteI hate snakes!
ReplyDeleteBut all that green is amazing! Looks soooo pretty. Can't wait until we start the change over here.
Do snakes in your park bite? We don't have many snakes here in our part of Cascadia but there are rattlers to the east! Wilhelm came across a little snake while hiking at Mount Hood one summer and the tiny thing bit Wilhelm's nose! It was not a venomous snake but Wil had fang marks in his muzzle for quite a while. I have hoped he learned not to try to play with moving sticks!
ReplyDeleteSpring MUST be coming if the snakes are out!!

Your mum misses the eucalypts and SHE misses the dogwoods!
ReplyDeleteNot keen on snakes though at least you've got a good chance yours aren't venomous....

My MOM would have been LONG GONE dragging us on our harnesses behind hers. LONG GONE.

Yuck. Our mommy decided to click on the picture of the snake to see if she could find it in the picture. Bad choice Mommy! She doesn't like snakes -- so why in the world did she click on the picture! Anyway, we will keep the vibration foot stomping thing in mind, just in case.
ReplyDeleteMom refused to look at the picture. Snakes are not Mom's thing. We have an infestation of garter snakes, the one thing pest control doesn't deal with when they come. We worked tiresly last year to drive them out. We want Mom to get a statue of St. Patrick for the yard. We need all the help we can get!!
ReplyDeleteWE are not FANS of Snakes...
ReplyDeleteOur trees are still BARE and Brown... Can't wait to see the Dogwoods bloom HERE.
WE are so glad that you didn't get bitten by the snake...
We haven't seen our first snake of the year yet and we hope we never do. Mom HATES snakes!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥

Our Mom would have freaked out if she saw that snake. And if Angel Thunder had been there, he would have spotted it right away. He used to love to grab the grass snakes and toss them up in the air:)

We love the term 'going bush'. Not sure about Mr Snake though. Glad the boys didn't see it. Have a super Saturday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Scary! Glad we've never seen one!
ReplyDeleteUgh, snakes are out here too.
ReplyDeleteSnakes, what a cool discovery.
ReplyDeleteGood think Mr. Snake didn't want to introduce himself! We have snakes here, too. The little league fields seem to always have a rattler problem. Poor kids!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing pictures of your park!

Crikey Reilly and Denny ..... how beautiful! Are the snakes over there as dangerous as most of ours here in Australia. We've had more snakes this year than we've had for a long time. They are everywhere. My Mum is scared of them but she also loves them. Too weird my Mum.
