Bubba Gump Reilly

We had another pawsome walk on the beach and today I found my very own treasure - a nice fresh shrimp! Can you believe Mom told me I wasn't allowed to eat it or even roll on it and I couldn't even bring it home to show Dad - what is wrong with that? Mom also found more shells including some of her favorites - the olives. There was also some translucent duck shells, angel wing shell, patterned prickly cockles, shark eye moon shells, some murex  and three little 'baby ear' shells which look like mother of pearl. Needless to say Mom was VERY happy although she is totally baffled as to what causes them to get washed up at some times and not others. We also got to sit on the big rocks of the breakwater and watch this big Barge come in - can you believe tugs pull these things all the way to the Bahama and back. While at sea they have just one tug pulling them but when they come in to dock there are three tugs - two pushing it and one pulling it. It just seem weird to us that you can such a big ship that can't move by itself.

OMD you are going to have to build a cave for all that treasures!!!

Now - jus' cuz you seem to share a passion of mine - I would direct you to this site where you can read a lot and follow links on matters pertaining to barges and their use. But for those of your readers who may not want to go into that much detail but have a small curiosity, I copy here a relevant paragraph:
"The Tug and Barge system offers numerous advantages over self propelled vessels. They require 1/3 less crew and have 1/2 the fuel consumption per mile. Tugs typically have crews of six versus a crew of 23 on the self-propelled vessels. On top of that, tug crew members have a different wage scale relative to crew members on self-propelled vessels. They also feature a lighter environmental footprint, lower construction costs, maintenance & dry docking fees, and are more conducive to moving larger freight. Tug/barges move at nine knots, half the speed of self-propelled vessels, but this slower speed results in much less fuel consumed per mile. In addition, both new construction and maintenance costs on barges are well below similar size self-propelled vessels."

    Wasn't that interesting? ... &*>... !!!

  14. That picture is great where u labeled all the shells. We never heard of their names before. We have a question. Well Mommy has a question cause its a bit silly. Mommys nephew keeps picking up little rocks and putting them in his coat pocket. Its his collection. The "easter bunny" is giving mommys nephew a rock painting kit. It comes with an "assortment of large river stones ideal surfaces for painting." Mommy is not sure his nephew is gonna paint the rocks he might just put the rocks with his collection. Our question to you... Do u ever see rocks on the beach? Mommy is not sure what the box meant by "large river stones". The box isnt that heavy, so "large" is probably misleading. I guess it means the rock probably has a smooth side . Anyway if u could take a picture of any rocks u might see on the beach, it would be helpful. Mommy knows nothing about rocks. Do u even find rocks on the beach?

  15. I think it's a good thing you left the shrimp alone. It doesn't look real healthy, but I would have wanted to roll on it at least.
