Denny Dumpling

Something terrible is happening..... Here I was thinking Mommy had come up with yet another cutie nic-name for me - she calls me Denny Whenny, Bubba-kins and Baby Face and now she has started calling me  Denny Dumpling BUT not in a nice way. Can you believe she says that over winter I have put on weight and that she is putting me on a STRICT diet. I keep telling her it is just my fur - I have a big thick and heavy winter coat but she won't believe me. She says no more treats AT ALL and just one bedtime cookie! She has even threatened to put me on the treadmill every day but that thing scares me even when it isn't turned on - I would surely faint if she turned it on with me on it!!!!! Mom says we HAVE to do this cause I am a little boned sheltie and carrying extra weight isn't good for my leggies or for my whole body. I can feel the weight falling off of me right NOW just from the worry of it all - I am pretty sure I should be slim again by tomorrow. What do you say Mom - "can I have just one cookie to see me through these hard times - pleeeeeease".  Mom says  "NO DENNY DUMPLING you can not have a cookie and those sad eyes are not going to work on me"  BUT MOM - I am starving.......it's been 5 minutes since breakfast!!!!

  1. Oh snap. Your mom said the four lettered word that is hated here at the Hotel Thompson - D.I.E.T. - shivers to mergatroid. I'm so sorry pal. Maybe your mom will forget about this crazy scheme and give in... if not, I leave the light on here for you. You can shack up with me. XOXO - Bacon

  2. Yikes the D word is as bad as the B word. Denny we feel your pain. Shall we smuggle some cookies over to you?
    Have a marvellous Monday.

  3. Lady's Loki use to have the same thing happen to him. We called him pleasantly plump and every spring his exercise would have to increase and his treats decrease. We hope that this is a temporary state and you are back to your slim self soon!

  7. Oh no, poor Denny! I hope this diet thing doesn't last long Denny. But just think Denny, if you're smaller, it will be harder for people to see you! You'll practically be invisible! I'm sure that will make you feel better. Oreo tries so hard to be invisible :)

  8. Oh Denny...I am so sorry to hear this. I have been on a diet in the past and it is no fun. But we need you to stay healthy, my friend and if a diet is what it will take, then maybe you should give it a try. I know it feels like you're starving...I feel for you, buddy.

  11. 5 minutes since breakfast? oh boy, that's a long time. maybe your scale is out of order and shows the wrong result? or maybe there are still some icicles in your fur from winter what have to melt away first?

  13. Denny Dumpling, Just tell your mom it's just your hair making you look "full." Maybe your mom went a bit overboard the last time she groomed you -- so that's why your fur is all full.

  14. Oh no! You think that's bad? I have been on a diet (and will be for the rest of my life due to my Irritable Bowel Syndrome and its VERY easy for to gain weight)since I was about 5 years old! I am 8 now, 9 this June and well, I don't get as many treats as my little brother and sister! But hey-ho, I have learnt that it's for my own good :(

    Lots of love, woofs&wags,

  17. Bummer, Denny. We hope you lose those few pounds so you can go back to getting your treats! Extra walkies in all of your beautiful parks might help!

  18. Poor Denny mom is doing what's best for you! I have to say he does look a little heavy in that picture. You're feeding grain free right? If that isn't a must have we still are looking for people to try the Hill's weight loss metabolic diet. The Lady

  19. Dieting Denny wants a dumpling now! Poor fella - hopefully you drop those pounds quickly so you can get back to the amount of treats your are accustomed too!

It's tough love dude. Blueberry feels for you, but she said she cannot send you any of her treats because a) your mom would probably just ration those too and b) because she is not a good sharer. Hang in there!

  20. Hey Denny!
Wow, this is horrible news! Everyone hates a diet. YUCK. Maybe your Mom could take you for more walkies then you could still have a cookie or two...or three...or four. BOL Well, it's worth a try. Either way, you look very handsome.

  21. Diets stink, Denny. Mom says Ciara needs to drop a few, but between her thyroid issue and her "meds" for the seizures, she is starting to plump up a bit:) Mom says she has to train Dad to cut back on the extras.

  22. Oh Denny, I feel your pain. My assistant isn't letting me have any treats either. The vets thinks I have gained too much weight since coming to live with my new family. GRRRRRRRRR

  23. Oh Denny, i feel your pain buddy!!! I have been on a diet since...well, it's been like FOREVERS now! So, I can give you this bit of advice...the male peeps are the suckers..trust me, they can not resist the big brown puppy eyes like the Moms can! they will sneak treaties and cookies when the Moms aren't lookin' then the Moms will wonder why we aren't loosin' weight...shhhhh, don't let Ma know I told you, K?

  25. Oh Denny not the D word. We always suck it in and hope for the best when we are on the scale. Our vet is very strict about weight and so far we've been able to fall within our weight range, but we know as soon as we fall over the line, we are headed for diet land for all the reasons you listed.
