We are joining My GBGV Life and Cascadian Nomads in their #DogWalkingWeek celebration. The idea is to think of ways to get those peeps motivated to take you out EVERY day for a walk and an adventure. Our fifth motivation is "visit a new lake". Today we headed off to Village Creek State Park which is just over an hour South of us. We have been to this park before but have never really checked out the two lakes that are in this park so today we went to the smallest one called Lake Austell. To reach the lake we had to go down a very narrow path and cross lots of little bridges. Mom admits she was a bit worried about this path as there were so many tree roots it was hard to get a footing and going down hill made it even dangerous. Being the brave adventurers we are though - we just went for it anyway.
Reaching the lake made the hike worth it as it is such a pretty place and so quiet. It is mainly a fishing lake and has steep sides all around so there is not really any places right next to the lake for people to picnic. The one area which is open is the levee which created the lake. This is a huge park that has over 7 miles of walking paths and is also one of the few parks that allows giant dogs (horses). We even saw one and it darn near scared the life out of the dweeb!
Of course you can do it, you brave explorers!
ReplyDeleteOh look at you boys, you've made me all jealous about you walkies again!

Lucky you dudes as we wanted to join in and but it is tipping it down today and we only managed a quick walk before the skies opened up and started chucking it down. Have a marvellous Monday.
