Life is quite busy in our backyard Cowspotdog pond at the moment. The first baby Canada Geese have hatched - six of them who we have name Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Moe, Larry and Ethel :) Last year our 3 Geese families had 6, 4 and 2 babies - it will be interesting to see if they do the same again this year. It looks like they are on track already :) The turtles have also finally come back - last year during summer our pond dried up and the turtles all went over to the bigger lake on the other side of our road. Mom says she thinks these are red eared slider turtles. We also had a cormorant visitor - not sure what he was doing there as there are no fish in MY pond but we guess he was just drying off his feathers.
How wonderful to be able to watch those little goslings grow up..what funs!

Wow, you guys have all kinds of visitors. Those turtles are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou could have animal planet filming right in your backyard! Cool stuff!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of nature you have!
ReplyDeleteyour back yard is a super place.... you have your own small zoo! how great is that?
ReplyDeleteWe thought we saw a movement under the water in the baby geese video. Now that you explained there are no fish, Maybe it was the turtle we saw swimming under the water. Perhaps it was just the wind making that ripple in the water. Butt we will keep on thinking it was the turtle. The image of the swimming turtle, makes Mommy happy, so we will just go with the ... it was a swimming turtle.
ReplyDeleteSqueals!! That is so totally cool - you have a miniature zoo in your backyard my friends. I absolutely love it. Do you ever see gators back there? XOXO - Bacon

Hi hi hi! Ojo here! WOW, that's so neat! Do you chase those things? (I would, but then sometimes I am a little bit naughty that way....)
ReplyDeleteWe wouldn't want any of that in our yard, but if you enjoy it, why not.
ReplyDeleteThis is in your backyard? That is so cool. I just hope no alligators, or snakes find it! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteWe hopes the turtles didn't come back to have baby geese supper. The big snappers in the Tennessee River eat the baby ducks and sometimes even chomp on a big duck leg! *shudder* Mom doesn't let me swim anywhere she sees those big snappers.
