Mr Reilly Update

Hello all - it is me the Reilly dog - after a day of being - tortured taken care of the vets yesterday - today I have just been taking it easy at home - even though I have done my best to convince Mom I NEED to do my bark ranger patrol and that a little sand wouldn't hurt me at all.

My foot is looking so much better this evening - the antibiotics and Mom cleaning it every couple of hours (which I must say I do not appreciate at all) has worked wonders. The swelling and redness have gone down a lot and the bleeding has stopped - sorry to gross you out with a photo of my foot but Mom wonders if anyone has seen anything like this before. My dogtor did some smear slides to look for any infection and also took a sample of the lump to send off to have some cytology work done on it - we won't get any results back until Thursday or Friday.

Now if only I can convince Mom that a weeks rest the dogtor suggested is is NOT needed.

  2. Oh, that looks like it could be painful. I'm glad it's starting to look better.

I hope you can get back on patrol soon Reilly. Maybe your mom can take you on a "Drive by" so you can at least keep an eye on things from the car.

  6. You don't want to get sand in that, Mr Reilly. You had better rest for awhile so that it can heal up.

  10. Your Mom is taking such good care of you, Reilly. Maybe in some ways it is good that the lump burst so it could get drained a bit. We hope the tests bring back some answers and good news.

  13. We've never seen anything like that before. Ghostwriter, who is a nurse, suggests you do what the vet says: rest and stay out of the sand!

  17. Reilly, it does look a bit like a bigger version of the interdigital cyst I had last year. That too involved a lot of paw washing. But Gail understands that these so-called cysts are quite common and so presumably the vet has ruled this out?
Take it easy mate, and hope it heals soon.

  23. Oh you poor boy. That must hurt some. Sometimes we just need to stay still and let the body heal without pushing to do more. Sending healing prayers for you, Denny and your Mom.
Be a good boy and just sit and watch the clouds drift by.

  24. That is one big owie, Reilly. We also think you may want to avoid walkies for a bit but, we agree that a park drive by, just to check and make sure the sand stealers know you are keeping and eye on things, may be in order.

Sending POTP your owie heals quickly!

  25. Reilly, just consider this a "staycation" and you and Denny can see when trouble you can get into in the house while you are both under house arrest er, I mean staycation. Oh boy, Mom says I am NOT being helpful.

  26. Did they rule out a foxtail? Foxtail seeds can be super nasty and cause cysts that can then burst.
