Baggies of Goldfish Crackers |
Now yesterday the Ferry actually changed hands - it was originally operated by the City of Jacksonville but is now under the care of the Jacksonville Transport Authority. They had a big celebration and signing of the papers - they also said the Ferry is here to stay for many years to come (it is the only car ferry still running in Florida) JTA have made a commitment to keep improving the ferry and for the past 10 weeks have been doing a lot of work on the ferry and its docking area. In April you will even be able to pay for your ticket via your phone. The ferry can take people, bikes, car, trucks, trailers and RV's across the river.
Anyhoo - the nice person collecting fares saw us in the back seat of the car and just gushed at how beautiful and well behaved we were and then reached into her bag and pulled out two baggies of goldfish crackers just for US (note - Mom did not get any cause she isn't special like us). Isn't is cool doggies are allowed to go on the ferry - we have to stay in the car but Mom rolled the windows down so we could enjoy the sea breeze.
PS - the dog friendly beach at Amelia Island was okay but Mom didn't like it because there is just rows of condos all along the shoreline and it didn't feel very relaxing.

Can you see MY car - it has the Aussie flag on the front :) |

ReplyDeleteYAAAYYYY flying the flag..... I have to go on such a ferry every time I want to leave my town for Edinburgh - welllll. I could go the back way and spend an extra hour on the road... but the ferry is fun. Except last week. Last week I truly thought we were sunk, so bad were the waves... but am here to tell the tale!!! Dogs are always welcome on Scottish ferries.... don't know that they get special treats though... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
wow what an adventure... I never was on a ferry... how is that? scary? loud? or easy peasy? Enjoy YOUR fishies while riding the waves on that ferry :o)
