Musing On Monday #32

Mutiny OF the Bounty !!!!!!!!!!  That is what Mom is calling the veggie growing this year. Everything seems to be growing so slowly and everything is so small even though Mom dug into bags of cow poop and fertilizer into the veggie patch. The plants themselves are doing wonderfully - just not a lot of bounty on them. The ONLY thing that seems to be doing well is the apple cucumber (which Mom didn't even plant this year - it came up all by itself - a left over from last year and has taken over) Thankfully Mom loves cucumber sandwiches and cucumber salad but even so we will be giving plenty away. Our "giant" beef steak tomatoes are tiny - our carrots are small and our strawberry plant is growing like a weed but has no strawberries.  There is plenty of bees around and Mom even got a ph kit to test the soil.....we can only do what we all do and blame it on the weather :)

  1. Well...I think lots of things can be blamed on the weather. Mom didn't even plant anything this year.

  2. Hi, it didn't rain at all up here in July. The driest July in history. We agree that it's the weather.

  3. My garden is doing a whole lot of nothing too. The only thing doing anything in it is the oca, which I can't even harvest for another 4-5 months or so.

  5. I know the farmers have had a rough growing season, so I think you're not alone. Your cucumbers are so cool!

  6. Oh no sorry that your harvest is not good this year. We are over a month behind because of the bad spring we had. Have a marvellous Monday.

  11. Mommies is not much of a gardener, so she is impressed with anything that grows. I am sorry if the bad weathers hurt your bounty, it still looks pretty tasty though.

  16. All we planted this year were tomatoes...and we've gotten a few...way more than last year, but not a bumper crop. They are just now turning red...and it's only in the 60's in the afternoon now...so don't know if they will ripen! It always freezes just about when we get going here.

  22. Hi, we just became your newest follower! It's hit or miss here in the Pacific Northwest too. No rain and cool nights don't make for a prolific garden.
