Not only the duckies were eating the bread some big old carnivorous catfish were chowing down on it too. We counted 9 of them ! This big guy in the photo was almost two foot long and would suddenly come to the surface and grab a chunk of bread - he even chased the ducks away but nibbling at their feet !
After feeding the duckies we headed up into the woods where it was cooler. We even followed some paths we hadn't been down before and came across a neat little ravine. It doesn't show up well in the photo but it dropped down about 40 feet. Mom says when it is cooler we will go back again and do some more exploring.

We agree, eating the ducks would be much more pleasant than feeding them. We hope your mom continues to feel better!
ReplyDeleteOh my huge duck foot nibbling catfish. Wow that is a first for us. I hate when they throw bread to the duckies etc as they should stuff it with bacon and give it to me. Have a tremendous Thursday.

Snorts - OMP! I can't breathe. I absolutely love the picture of you two butt to butt protecting each other. I've got to remember that move. oh wait a minute - I don't have a brother to do that with. Even when moms don't feel 100% it is good for them to get out and get some fresh air and a bit of exercise if they can. Those ducks wouldn't come near us, even if we had bread, but I'm glad they did not attack you. We have those rotten Canadian Geese that do attack even when we are just walking by.
