Can "IT" say "I want that cookie !

No walks in the park today - Mom hasn't been feeling to well today so we were just outside enjoying the breeze and the warm sun. Then Mom pulled some cookies from her pocket and "IT" got so excited "IT" was almost slobbering. Mom managed to get this close up of "IT".

The men are FINALLY here to fix my fence at least the bit that blew down. We are also having the double gates replaced so they are setting the post and will be back next week to hang the new gates.

The BIG Reveal

Come one come all - the new blog is officially open and you can see it here ! We hope you like it :)

CLICK THIS

We are still working out some "bugs" not sure if the shopping cart is working correctly yet, if it isn't please let me know. There is an email link on the right hand side. All items are hand made by Mom (with me dogervising and giving the final woof of approval) - it does take time to make items so there is not a lot available at the moment and there is only ONE of each item.

Please become a follower if you want to see when we add new things. We should be updating it a couple of times a week. And remember - ALL the money raised is going to the ASPCA and the Elephant Sanctuary and we have a tracker on the top of the page that will show the donations.

Another visit to the park

It is another beautiful day today so we went to the park again - this time we went around the other side of the lake. It was so pawsome except of coarse for "IT". "IT" wanders and weaves all over the place and tangles the leads up all the time. Even "IT" couldn't really dampen my enjoyment though - although I was tempted to give "IT" a little nudge over when we were sitting on the dock. That would of been fun watching "IT" dog paddle back to shore gawoof gawoof.

There was certainly a lot more people there today and I guess they were all enjoying the sunshine too. I did like where we walked though as it was more shaded and even though it wasn't hot with my big coat I get warm pretty quickly. Of coarse the turtles were out again - it is no wonder they don't allow swimming at this lake anymore - all those turtles would be nibbling at people's toes! YYYYaaaaawwwnnnn - I am off to have a bit of snooze and dream about what adventures we will go on tomorrow.

It's time for a giveaway

Okay every doggie and other furbabies - Mom and Bailey have been hard at work creating the prize for our latest giveaway and of coarse I gave the final approval (I am the big dog dogervisor after all)

So what is it you have to do?
The other day Sawyer the Schnauzer had a terrific post on her blog about how she got her name. It started Mom thinking and wondering - how did every doggie and other furbabies get their names? So this is the challenge for you.

On YOUR bloggie - tell every one how you got your name, had your mom and dad already picked a name for you, did they wait and see what personality you had, was it a favorite movie character, a relative, a book character ...and so on. If you need some help have a look what Sawyer wrote. We gave Sawyer an entry in the giveaway - because she had already written about this. NOTE : Quite a few of you have already done a "how did you get your name" challenge and it okay if you want to use an old posting :)

Once you have done that come back here and leave a link to your post in my comments so everyone can go and see it. How easy is that ???? And don't forget to tell your friends too. The giveaway will run until the Monday 18th April 2011 and we will draw the winner using Random.Org Any furbaby can enter - doggies, kitties, bunny's what ever :)

And what is the prize for a giveaway you may be barking - well here it is. This is a little mini photo album for the hoomans to put all their favorite pictures of YOU in. Mom hands cuts each page with the letters on and then decorates them. These will be also available on the new bloggie for sale and the best part is you can have them personalized - with YOUR name and the colors you like. So get those paws tapping on the keyboard and lets see how you got your name. Oh, and there will also be some yummy treats in the parcel that Mom sends to the winner - just for you!

Remember you can click on the photos to see them bigger !!

2 Posts Today !!!!

I have had a pawsome afternoon. We went to the park and had a long walk around the lake. Remember you can click on the pictures to see them bigger. We were followed around the lake by the duckies - they were waiting for their bread but Mom forgot to take it today. She thought this one duck was really pretty. It had the colored head of the Muscovy but the rest of it was black and white. We also saw soooooo many turtles - can you see them all sunning themselves on the island - we counted nine of them and saw even more sunning themselves on branches sticking out of the water.

Mom also took a photo of this silly tree - she liked the bark on it and the blue sky behind it - I must admit there was also some pretty good smells around it. And of coarse here I am enjoying the lovely weather and a bit of shade because I got quite warm strolling around. Can you see me smiling? Hope you all has a great day too.

Daily Rituals

Do you have daily rituals? Mom and I do. Every morning (unless Dad gets to it first) we go out and pick up the newspaper. This also gives Mom and I time to check out the garden and see what new things are growing. This morning we noticed that some of the gladioli that survived the mauriding nightly wildlife - are starting to send up shoots! We also have one lily of the valley (out of the ten we planted). My other daily ritual is a trip to the mail box - for some reason there are always such good smells around it. This morning I was exhausted by the 30 foot walk to the mailbox and had to lay down for a rest next to it. Protecting Mom from the tempestuous trolls is such hard work!!! Mom is still loving the azaleas we have growing - me I was keeping a close eye on that humungeous bee !! Mom says it is a what they call a honey bee here - I think it is more like a bee-asaurus - how does something that big and fat even get off the ground!! Okay Mom - quick take the photo I want AWAY from that thing! So what are your rituals?

NOT HAPPY - the "IT" in trouble again !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mom had gone to sit down for a few minutes to rest her back and came back to see why the dog flap was making a noise - and guess who she caught in the act - and what "IT" did to MY brand new doggie door !! To say Mom was not happy is an understatement. Add this to Mom's new glasses that "IT" chewed up last week and "IT" is quickly wearing out "IT's" welcome. It would take pages to list all the things this tiny little destruction machine on legs has ruined. My Mom made "IT's" Mom pay for the glasses and she will be making her pay for a new flap too and at $38.00 it's not going to make her happy either !

Saturday Stroll - With Bailey

Hello - Bailey here. It is a VERY hot and windy day today and I was a bit worried about Mom's garden so I decided to take a stroll around and see what is happening. Now the cool thing about moving into a new house in winter is that you are never sure what will appear in the garden in spring. Well here is a wonderful surprise - we have gorgeous azalea bushes in our front yard and look how they are flowering !! That big bush in the middle is also an azalea and covered in buds - it appears to be a different color though - so a few more days and it should surprise us all.

I also found this lovely red weeping maple - the leaves are so pretty. Our holly bushes are also in flower but Mom couldn't get near them because of the bees buzzing around. They sure do smell pretty though. On the way back through the garage Mom showed my big brother Reilly's car (Does that mean it is mine too???) and look what was in the window. Mom loves me and my big brother - that is for sure. Dad is also busy in the garage, he bought a 'thing' to aerate
the lawn with - it goes on the back of the Red Beastie so dad just has to drive around and let it do all the work. Mom also found some yellow tomatoes (less acidic then red) at the garden nursery this morning and she will be planting those in her veggie garden. Dad also spotted a Eucalyptus tree and bought it for Mom to remind her of home. I don't understand that - she is home - why would she need reminding of it????

A dilemma

So the Dad was doing some research online (as he calls it - Mom calls it idling away time !) and he came across some information about a previous site called Hallbark Cards and Hallbark Gourmet - both designed with doggies in mind. Both sites were closed down due to name dispute with guess who.

Mom was worried about this too - so after a big family discussion (I had to put my thinking cap on for this) we have decided not to risk using that name even though we love it. Amber-Mae will still get her prize though as it was was a great name to think of.

Mom and Dad have been researching all afternoon and have found a name no one else has used so the new bloggie will be online soon. Mom has been very busy creating things to put on there. Please remember though all the items are hand made and often take 4-6 hours to make, so there will not be a lot available to start with.

We have a winner - HallBark Kardz

Voting was unanimous on this one - our new bloggie (for selling our pets cards etc) will be called HallBark Kardz. Thank you to everyone who voted and a BIG thank you to Amber-Mae for the name - please contact me with your mailing addy and what cards you would like. The new blog will be online a couple of days :)

And just a gentle reminder - Word Verification is annoying and frustrating for people with vision and dyslexia problems (like my Mom and many many others) - so please consider setting comments to "approval needed" instead. NOTE FROM MOM : It can take me fives tries sometimes to get word verification right - that is frustrating !!

To do this go click on the tab "Settings" - then click on the sub tab Comments. Scroll down to the page until you see this - Click "Comment Moderation" to "ALWAYS" and show word verification to "NO". This allows YOU to have full control of your comments and prevent spam or unwanted comments appearing on you site.

She said YES *blush*

As most of you know Ludo is having a birthday soon and is having a party at the beach. Well - I finally worked up the courage to ask pretty Miss Katie to go with me and she said yes - and her Mom said it was okay too. Don't forget to call on by Ludo's page so you can read about his party too. Sigh ! isn't Katie the sweetest (and do you notice that Bailey kinda of looks like her too - what a coincidence!!!) We hope to meet lots of you at Ludo's party. I am sure there will be frisbee, ball chasing, frolicking in the waves and plenty of food! And the best part - it's off leash which means we can run and jump and be happy! Mom says we need to have a chaperon - so I have asked Ricky to come with us and we will be taking the dog-eye express jet to get there!!!

Rainy day, thunder and threats

Good morning every doggie and their hoomans. After 80 degrees and high winds yesterday, today is dark, raining, thunder, lightening and threats of bad things coming over the weather radio. Poor Dad - after doing all the work to get the doggie door in - he's a bit upset that we can't use it because part of fence blew down. I told him it's okay and that we will be able to use it soon enough. Here is my doggie door - it is pretty neat huh and here is the hole in the fence! We had someone come out today to give us a quote on what it will cost to fix.

Now you may have seen the visitor in my yard yesterday, well that is actually Bailey (she is named after my doggie Mom and is the same color - and yes she is a toy sheltie - but isn't she cute ! ) Mom has always loved seeing Autumn (shhhh she is a toy Airedale on wheels and has a regular spot on Maggie and Mitch's blog every Wednesday). We are not sure if Maggie and Mitch know she's not real so lets keep that a secret between us. Of coarse "IT" thinks Bailey is real and growled and barked at her. You will be seeing a lot of Bailey, she is going to be Mom's little helper. See - today she has been helping Mom with the giveaway gift. Of coarse I have final approval on EVERYTHING. I am after all the REAL dogervisor! Keep dry every doggie and remember water is bad - it shrinks you :) :)

Being blown away

What a weekend, as you know I have been busy dogervising the fixing of hole under the edge of our patio. When Dad checked it, he found it went almost three feet back !!!!! It took A LOT more concrete then we thought to fix it but hopefully it will stop the patio from cracking. And guess what - Dad installed a new screen door in the back and it has a built in Doggie door - dog oh dog am I happy! Mom is happy too as it means no more having to be a doorman 30 times a day !!! And of coarse just to round off the weekend - it is so windy today it blew down part of our back fence and "IT" decided to take himself off on a neighborhood tour - we found him talking to another dachshund across the street. Oh - and look what else we found in our yard today !!!

What ya doin today????

Good morning all my woofitty friends - how are you doing this fine sunny weekend, do you have any pawtastic plans to share? I am busy helping Mom at the moment - we are making the prize for our next give-away and it is sooooooo cute !!!! Keep watching this week for when I post it. I promise - paws crossed that it will be really easy to enter.

Mom was also being silly with that camera thingy this morning - and look at the picture she took! I look like a collie dog with a big long nose. I am actually in-between a collie and sheltie size - being 17 1/2 inches tall. It is kind of odd really as both my mom and dad dogs were only 14" and 15" tall. Maybe the white recessive gene I have makes me taller? Dad has gone to take the last of our packing boxes to the recycling and then he is going to get some ready mix concrete to fix our back patio. We are not sure if something dug under there or the rain washed the dirt from under the corner away - but there is quite a big hole there. Of coarse I will be dogervising to make sure he gets it done right. And yum - Mom says we are going to fire up the grill tonight - bar-be-que !!!!!! I love the smells that come from that thingy.

A serious moment

As many of you know my Mom spent most of last year in hospital and she was very very sick. She couldn't eat for over 11 months and basically was bed ridden. Well things have been slowly improving over the last few months and I have my "old Mom" back again. The one that is home with me all the time, takes me to the park, plays games with me, brushes me and puts me through my tricks.

Anyway - today she was at the doctors to get the results of a bone density test that she had done last week and the results are not at all good. Not only does she have severe Osteoporosis she also has multiple compression fractures in her spine and they say it is due to what she went through last year. The Mom is a bit sad today but I am here with my soft eyes and warm fur to make her feel better. The doctor did say one good thing though - that lots of gentle exercise like walking is good for her and it's good for me too - so off to the park we go for a nice walk.
