They're Back !

We headed out early to MY park again this morning in the hopes of seeing some more deer - we didn't find them but we saw something even more amazing - a pair of Beavers - yes 2 of them - splashing around, chasing fish and having a merry old time. Now of coarse it is not easy to get a pic of them and trust us the Mom tried but the best she could get was of one their heads.

We stopped and chatted to Mr Duckie  (he is an elderly gentlemen we see every morning feeding the ducks - he carries a big bag of corn with him and walks around the entire lake to make sure all the duckies get some) and he said the beavers have been in the lake for about a month but you only ever see them VERY early in the morning. Thankfully they haven't attacked any more trees and just seem to be having fun doing what beavers do :)

It's TWINS !!!

For the first time EVER - we actually saw some deer at MY park and guess what - it was twin fawns - oh my dog !!!!  We were so excited. Sadly it was early morning and still overcast so we couldn't get really good photos of them but we sat and watched them for about half an hour - they didn't even mind us getting out of the car and being close by! They were standing in what use to be a garden when there was an old house there and there was obviously something tasty growing in it because they were munching up a storm and didn't want to leave it - maybe it was deer nip :)  We didn't see Momma deer - she was probably hiding in the background though. Even after we finished our walk around the lake - they were still there munching. Mom says she think the one on the right was probably a little male - he was a bit bigger and stamped his hoof at Mom when she got a little to close. It made Mom's day seeing them :)

Reilly Appleseed & Safety Week

I thought after showing you MY apples yesterday I would show you the tree it came off. As you can see - it isn't a very big tree - in fact we only planted it two years ago and are surprised it even got fruit on it. I have two apples trees in my outside back yard (I have an inside backyard that is fenced and an outside back yard that isn't) - they were supposed to be a red and golden delicious but I guess they got the labels mixed up. The other apple tree didn't even flower this year so no apples on that one. This little tree had 14 apples on it but a couple of weeks ago about half of them got blown off in a storm - maybe that is why the ones that are left are so big - they are getting all the nutrients and water now :)

An Apple A Day......

We picked the first apples off MY tree today - and what an apple is ! Check this out - all 13 ounces of it - gosh - we could make an apple pie with just this one apple! I have claimed this as MY apple though as one thing I love is some nice crunchy apple - Mom - peel that bad boy and slice it up thin - I am going in for some serious munching. Don't worry - I am letting Mom have the smaller apple and the best thing is there is still more apples growing on MY tree. Oh - we have no idea what type of apple it is - it was supposed to be a golden delicious but the shape and size and color are all wrong for that.

Happy Birthday Sugar

Today we are joining all of Blogville to wish the golden girl Sugar the most wonderful birthday. Sugar loves to smile so the theme for today is "Smiles for Sugar" - hop on over and leave her some birthday loving.

Doggie Bagels

Mom was out shopping yesterday and found these "three dog bakeries" doggy cinnamon swirl bagels for ME us - they are VERY crunchy and VERY big (they are actually hollow inside so it is just the outer shell that makes them look big) they are also VERY yummy!  Now of coarse there is a fine art to bagel eating. I like to eat mine 'al fresco' out in the open air, enjoying a bit of sunshine and the birdies singing as they wait for crumbs - which they don't get because I NEVER leave any!  The Dweeb on the other paw likes indoor dining - he is also the slowest EVER bagel eater - I swear I could eat 10 in the time it takes him to eat just one.  (He is actually REALLY slow at eating everything). Thanks Mom - we loved having a bagel for breakfast.

Rugs for Rugs

You might remember a while back Mom finally finished a big latch hook hook rug she been working on for like 87 gazillion years. Well since then she has made five more (they are a lot smaller and don't take as long to make) These are the last 3 she has made and she has sold them and used the money to buy more rugs. Now why would Mom make rugs to sell only to then turn around and then buy more rugs - you are thinking CRAZY right ????

Well the rugs she has bought are big non skid rugs for ME (that is the green thing we are laying on). Mom has been VERY worried about me slipping on our woods floors and hurting myself - which is something I must admit I have been doing a lot of lately because of the arthritis in my back and leggies.  Trust ME - there is nothing more undignified then doing a nose dive on the floor and having all 4 legs splayed out in different directions - not to mention trying to get up from such a position! Thankfully I haven't hurt myself yet but Mom being the worry wart she is - didn't want to take any chances. Of coarse the Dweeb is enjoying them too - he can chase his beloved ball without slipping over (although it was kind of fun watching him looking for all the world like he was sliding into a home plate at a baseball match :) :)

Wordless Wednesday

Where has all the summer gone?

It is getting to be hot and humid again here so off we went for an early morning walk trying to stay in the shady areas as much as we could. Now even though is is still nice and green we saw lots of the trees are already starting to turn red - WTD - surely we not heading for an early fall - we seem to have only just started summer?  (Here in Arkansas we have had the coolest ever recorded July)













Now as if walkies itself isn't treat enough - when we got home Mom has some nice cold Peanut Butter Frosty Paws waiting for us. Trust us - our tongues were hanging out for those - yum!

Fields of yellow

We went for a walk in MY little park this morning and were greeted by a field of yellow daisies. Mom said they made a sad day seem bright and happy.

We got mail from the Bayou !

Reilly - that box is so scary!

Our favorite mail lady came to the door and after greeting her with lots of happy barks she handed Mom a box - which of coarse was for ME us. It was a package from Bentley and Pierre and their Mom Melissa over at Barking From The Bayou . It was a prize we won in a giveaway they had.

Inside was two packets of yummy treats and the cutest little packet of poop bags. These treats also have Glucosamine in them which Mom says will be good for my arthritis. Thank you so very much Bentley and Pierre.

Call of the wild

We are having the best summer EVER so far, the temps have been in the high 70's and they say they are going to stay this way until the middle of next week!

With such beautiful weather Mom says the 'call of the wild' or "the urge to go walk-a-bout' as the aussies say - is very strong so we have been off and exploring every day. We were at MY Lake Poinsette Park today - it is about 20 miles from where we live. The lake was like glass this morning and Mom loved the way everything was reflecting on the water like a mirror - bah humbug - we just wanted to get on to the sniffing and pee mail reading.

After the lake we headed up into the woods and check out this awesome spider web Mom almost walked in to. Mom says it was hypnotic watching the spider going around and around and was amazed how perfect the web was. She was even more amazed she was able to get such a great photo of it.
