Mutiny OF the Bounty !!!!!!!!!! That is what Mom is calling the veggie growing this year. Everything seems to be growing so slowly and everything is so small even though Mom dug into bags of cow poop and fertilizer into the veggie patch. The plants themselves are doing wonderfully - just not a lot of bounty on them. The ONLY thing that seems to be doing well is the apple cucumber (which Mom didn't even plant this year - it came up all by itself - a left over from last year and has taken over) Thankfully Mom loves cucumber sandwiches and cucumber salad but even so we will be giving plenty away. Our "giant" beef steak tomatoes are tiny - our carrots are small and our strawberry plant is growing like a weed but has no strawberries. There is plenty of bees around and Mom even got a ph kit to test the soil.....we can only do what we all do and blame it on the weather :)
Well...I think lots of things can be blamed on the weather. Mom didn't even plant anything this year.ReplyDelete
Hi, it didn't rain at all up here in July. The driest July in history. We agree that it's the weather.ReplyDelete
My garden is doing a whole lot of nothing too. The only thing doing anything in it is the oca, which I can't even harvest for another 4-5 months or so.ReplyDelete
I am hearing that from so many folks about their gardens! I hope you get more crop! Enjoy those carrots!ReplyDelete
I know the farmers have had a rough growing season, so I think you're not alone. Your cucumbers are so cool!
Oh no sorry that your harvest is not good this year. We are over a month behind because of the bad spring we had. Have a marvellous Monday.ReplyDelete
Best wishes Molly
Dont even ask about our garden. Peppers were a big disappointment.ReplyDelete
Sorry bout that darn growing season. Ours is doing good and the farmers think we had too much rain, they are just never Happy seems like.ReplyDelete
Jazzi and Addi
OMD we are soooooo sorry.ReplyDelete
We are embarrassed to say that we have had produce up to our collars... this year... butt it DID start out pretty slow. It isn't tooo late fur your thingys..
Our green beans are just starting their THIRD bloomin.
Our weather has been weird too this summer.ReplyDelete
Mommies is not much of a gardener, so she is impressed with anything that grows. I am sorry if the bad weathers hurt your bounty, it still looks pretty tasty though.ReplyDelete
Yeah, the lemon tree behind us which is usually laden with lemons has very few this year! Somethin's going on!ReplyDelete
We think your fruit, though small looks good.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Yep, looks a little weak there, bet it's all the Rain, ok lets go with that!ReplyDelete
The Mad Scots
well, it is better than having nothing at all!ReplyDelete
That looks like a great harvest! Turns out our Lady did not enjoy gardening and only got 4 tomatoes so far . . . maybe the weather didn't help. Lee and PhodReplyDelete
All we planted this year were tomatoes...and we've gotten a few...way more than last year, but not a bumper crop. They are just now turning red...and it's only in the 60's in the afternoon now...so don't know if they will ripen! It always freezes just about when we get going here.ReplyDelete
Yups, gotta be the weather. All Ma's plants are doin' crappy. (well, a few are goin' good, butts...)ReplyDelete
The weather has been so weird. So, maybe next year!
pees: Ma still wants your tomatoes!
Who forgot the Miracle Grow?ReplyDelete

Does your apple cuc taste sorta like apples, Reilly?ReplyDelete
Our mom and dad are praying for the tomatoes to hurry up and ripen!

Mitch and Molly
I'm not sure how the farmers 'round here are going, but I do know that we have been getting a LOT of rain!ReplyDelete
Hi, we just became your newest follower! It's hit or miss here in the Pacific Northwest too. No rain and cool nights don't make for a prolific garden.ReplyDelete
We never heard of apple cucumbers. They look interesting.ReplyDelete
