Mom has been trying to get pictures of these little hummingbird guys for AGES but you all know how fast they are........ in fact both Mom and I have been guilty of mistaking them for big old bumble bees. Mom nearly swatted one one day as she was watering the flowers and I have even snapped at one thinking it was a buzzy bee when it fluttered around my head. See these little guys are so tiny - only about and inch and a half long and their wings make a buzzing sound and they fly so fast it is hard to tell what they. We also saw one last night we had never seen before - it was the same size but had a black head, a yellow ring around it's neck and a emerald green body. Mom has three feeders hanging up so they are constantly buzzing around .
Very nice pictures of the humming birds. Our neighbor has humingbird feeders so they zip by our place too.ReplyDelete
I never saw one for real, but it's so amazing that such small birds exist. It's great to see them in your photos!ReplyDelete
OMD…. des are grrrrrrrrrrrrreat pics of da hummers.ReplyDelete
Great pics! We occasionally see one in our butterfly garden but have never been able to capture a picture of them!ReplyDelete
They are very cute and we can imagine they are fast. Have a super Saturday.ReplyDelete
Best wishes Molly
I love hummingbirds. I had to give up the feeders here though - Monty was clever enough to catch the birds. I'm always happy to see them.ReplyDelete

Nice job on getting pictures of these little guys! They do fly soooo fast and we find they are very shy.ReplyDelete
We always plant flowers in our planters that are hummer friendly. Our yard is filled with beautiful red bee balm which they love. We've just not had time to get out our camera.

WE just ADORE hummingbirds here on the hill. SADLY this is the LAST WEEKEND fur our feeders to be up. We have to take them down at Labor Day... to SHOOSH what FEW hummers we have left... South fur the Winter.ReplyDelete
It makes us VERY MUCH SAD to see them go.
Your mom got some GREAT pics of them.
Aww, you have two sharing a feeder! Mine will not share, but instead battle it out, which is entertaining, but I wish they would realize there is plenty for every bird.ReplyDelete
They won't be around here much longer....I'll miss them when they migrate.
Oh cool. We have little, tiny ones too. Up here in Vancouver, w have hummingbirds all year round. Apparently there are at least 2 species and one of them, stays all year up here.ReplyDelete
Oh they look so cute. Good jobReplyDelete
We have some outside our kitchen nook. They are FAST!ReplyDelete

We don't have them in our window since we don't have a feeder for them, but Mom remembers being fascinated with them as a little girl. Her grandparents had them up at their lake home. Cute little buggers.ReplyDelete
We love our hummingbirds. They are angry little birds, always fighting to defend their feeder. I have one that must be the scout. He comes first thing every year and flies right up in my face, then zooms away. He only zooms my face again when the feeder is empty and when he leaves each year. It's really cool. ☺ReplyDelete
