The Broken Toe

Last Tuesday Dad took his daughter for one last walk to the beach before she headed back to Wisconsin. Now Dad doesn't often watch where he is walking and Mom is ALWAYS telling his to be careful but Mom wasn't there and you guessed it - he stubbed his toe on the boardwalk. He said it hurt a bit but didn't really bother him. On Wednesday he flew to Pennsylvania and on Friday he flew to New Orleans and his toe okay. But today for some reason all his toes and the top of his foot swelled up and lots of bruising appeared across all his toes and Mom finally dragged him to the ER to get it checked out. They poked and prodded and took some X-rays and it showed his toe is broken. So now he is hobbling around wearing an orthopedic boot and will be for the next couple of weeks. Of coarse that Dweeb brother of mine Denny thinks the boot is some kind of monster and every time he sees it barks and growls at it. I guess we will just have to do some extra walking on Dads behalf  :)

  3. Oh that's very weird. I broke a toe on my right foot early this summer. I foolishly refused to visit the doc and it's still healing (although I can walk and run fine now). Then last month when the grandchildren visited I stubbed my left foot on a concrete pad at the playground. I don't know if the toes broke but they are still sore. So I salute your wisdom in visiting the dr. and hope your foot heals quickly. As for Denny, well I guess he thinks that boot is some kind of alien appendage :0

  5. Ouch! And he didn't know it was broken? You better walk for those who cannot (and not attack that strange boot).

  6. Ouch! There is nothing fun about a broken toe or the giant boot. I think Pierre would go nuts over that boot too.

  8. Oh noes!!!! Poor Pops! Ma was suppose to wear one of those bootie thingies when she sprained her ankle (she STILL has to wrap it...) butts she thought it was too big and 'she don't need it'...yeah, that's why it still HURTS! (yeah, Ma can be dense!) so you tell your Pops to keep that bootie thing on for as long as the dogtor tells him, so it'll heal up real fast!!
Oh, and if he needs some margaritas to help the healing process.....☺
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  10. Poor Dad. Our Mom has broken her big toe and her pinkie toes a few times -very uncomfortable. Hope the boot helps - Mom always had to wear her sneakers as they were the only footwear that didn't make it hurt even more. Hope he heals quickly.

Pee Ess - Mom is just so struck on your 9/11 graphic. You will have to share how you created it - it is gorgeous.

  11. SHE broke one of HER smaller toes and couldn't wear shoes for WEEKS. We hope his toe heals extra quickly. And we hope Denny learns to live with the boot.

  15. Broken toes are no fun. Such a small part of the entire body but they cause a lot of trouble!

  16. Poor Dad! Mom stubs her toes all the time and know how much that hurts! She is back from abandoning me from her vacation to Vancouver. Walking to the gate to catch the plane to Seattle, holding a diet Coke, bottle of water, and McD's bag she caught her shoe on the floor and went flying face first right into the floor. Two pilots happened to be there to rescue her and other than a big bump on her elbow and sore shoulder the vacation continued! Tell Dweeb to get over it. Love Dolly
