Toadstool Thursday

The past few days it has been rainy, hot and very humid (like 76% humidity) which is as Mom says YUK YUK YUK! With all the rain we have been picking a bag FULL  of toadstools out of our lawn every day - Mom is worried some doggy who isn't very bright (known as the Dweeb to you and me) might try eating them and we don't know if they are poisonous. Personally I would quite enjoy watching him taking a psychedelic mushroom trip :) They are kind of weird toadstools/mushrooms we have in the lawn as they come up looking like a golf ball and then suddenly pop open and are bright blue underneath!

Anyhoo - after doing the mushroom picking up Mom decided to take us to MY park while it was still cool and guess what we saw - yep more toadstools/mushrooms only these were the most amazing orange color!

Now personally I have no idea why Mom thinks these toadstool/mushroom thingies are interesting - especially when there is all the wonderful smells in the park and geese to chase.

We get a type of SHROOOOOOM here called a PUFF BALL... it starts all white and when it gets really big and dry inside they have green/gray dust like stuffs inside... if you step on one... it will go PUFF and that is where it got the name... butt when small and fresh... they are actually good to eat.

  4. We are a mushroom free zone here but we'd probably get rid of them too just in case. Hope the humidity drops soon. Have a tremendous Thursday.

  5. They are really pretty! I love unusual mushrooms, but I'm like your mom, picking them from the lawn, because I don't know which ones are ok to eat and which ones are poison.

  6. Wow, those are some really pretty (and so probably of the psychedelic variety) toadstools! Neeto! ;-) When the rain starts at my house, we get tons and tons of mushrooms too! Then I get watched like a hawk every time I venture outside, boo!

  7. They are beautiful. We had a VERY cold day yesterday and this morning is foggy. So don't think we'll find any mushrooms.

  8. Those mushrooms look pretty bright! We've been getting the plain white toadstools out of nowhere too. I've been a little concerned about them being nibbled on by my guys too.

  9. Those look like smurf villages. Must be an advertisement for the new smurfs movie in theaters. We think Gargamel is behind all of the mushrooms popping up everywhere.

  10. Our big guy (aka grandpa who refuses to be called grandpa), believes our grammie is going to make him eat poisonous mushrooms . . . . we think you should avoid these just to be safe. Lee and Phod

  11. Yep, we have them here too. Mom says it is hard enough doing poop patrol for all of us and now she has to do mushroom patrol too. But best not to take any chances.

  15. You would think I would get some shrooms in my yard because we flood it once a week. But nope. Although I do see some when we go on hikes. I like how colorful yours are.
