Shopping around the world

We are joining our favorite little piglet Bacon in a shopping trip around the world. Now even though many of us live in the USA the prices are vastly different because of each States taxes and also the types of grocery stores we have and the different brands of the same item.  So here is our prices check in Arkansas.

Now in all fairness Mom bought Rye and Pumpernickel Bread,  Organic Free Range Eggs and Natural Low Sodium Peanut butter - all of which cost more than normal brands. Mom and Dad haven't been to the movies in years but she looked up the prices online and shock of shock - Mom has NEVER had a McDonalds burger but she saw them advertised on the TV so knew how much they were.

  • Loaf of bread $3.49 - (Plain White is 99cents - $1.99)
  • Gallon of milk $2.89
  • Dozen eggs $4.49 - (Plain Eggs $2.39)
  • Gas per gallon $3.55
  • Movie ticket $7.50
  • At the movies, how much are the concessions? Popcorn $4.50 - Coke $3.50
  • McDonald’s cheeseburger $1.08
  • Jar of peanut butter $3.89 (Plain PB - $3.49)
  • A can of Fancy Feast cat food - never buy the stuff :) :) :)

  1. Wow everyone has cheaper gas than ours. We are finding this so interesting. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. Your movie tickets are waaaaaaay lower than ours. Weird how prices are so different from state to state.

  3. I come over to fill up the Elephant Skater. I bring the bread and the eggs (sorry just 10 lol)and we both have some money for our piggy banks :o)

  4. Yes, our gas(petrol) costs more per US gallon than your movie ticket...

  5. WOW - thank you so much my friends for participating. This is so intriguing! Your milk, gas, movie tickets AND concessions are so much cheaper than here in Georgia. It's so interesting to see the different prices from all over the world. XOXO - Bacon

  6. Hey this is really fun! Gee I wish I could do the shopping. Jerky and PB and steak for everyone! BOL I've never had a McD burger either, but I keep wishing.
    Grr and Woof,
    Sarge, Pol Comm

  7. Everything looks about the same as Virginia, except the movie ticket. More like $10.00 here, and popcorn is a dollar or so more too.

  8. We did not know about this day... butt are LOVING the price comparisons
We got gas (the cheapest blend) for $2.74 this weekend. Our Milk was $2.50 And we got Eggs for $1.99 for a Dozen and a HALF.
It is FUN to know what others have to pay fur thingys.

  9. PeeS.... we don't even REMEMBER when we had a McDonald's Burger... don't like them much.

  10. I wish I knew about this because the posts are so fun to read! Sometimes I think I live in my own little world when I miss stuff like this.
    Happy Wednesday!

  11. Our petrol is more expensive than vingage champagne!
    Dip and Elliot x

  12. That sounds about the same here! Well, maybe a few cents more here, cause, well, EVERYTHING is more expensive here. (see Ma bitchin' now....bol)
    Ruby ♥

  13. This was the most fabulous idea, what a great comparison! Love seeing the differences.

So happy to hear your niece will be heading home.

  14. What a cool idea. Mama says movies where about that price the last time she went. She says that was long before Katy came. :)

  15. We have the most expensive gas in the country. But our other prices are lower due to the urban area. Its hard to believe that we have to pay more for milk and eggs in places that provide them. Love Dolly

  16. Even with the seniors concession at the movies is more here.

Some of the others are on par.

    XXXOO Bella & Roxy

  17. Mom shops at the commissary so that saves on food. We have no idea how much a movie is cuz we rarely ever go. Gas today is $3.35/gallon. Interesting though!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  18. We only live a couple of states away from you, but Dad says he wants to go to your movie theater. Our tickets are $7.50 for the early show and $10 for the regular ones, and about $11 for a small soda and small popcorn:(

Woos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning

  19. Just outside of Chicago, gas is
    $3.97 per gallon
jar of organic, low sodium peanut butter-5.79
half a gallon of organic fat free mily $4.79
6lb bag of raw organic dog food-30.79
    2-free range organic chicken breasts-$12.71
Stopped at the store today….. Tell mom not to worry, about the hamburger, I do not think they are too healthy….

  20. Wow! Sometimes I forget how expensive it is to live up here in the Northwest...our gas, as of this morning was $4.39 a gallon!

Thank you for woofing at us - we read each and every one of them
