Water and Walkies

Mom took some video of the big freight ship yesterday and also our walkies. If you watch you can see there are three tugs working the ship, one way out in front, one at the back and one at the side. Mom says it is hard to imagine this thing out on the open ocean it is just so big and square and it doesn't look like it could cut through the waves. We also went for a walk in MY own little jungle - Mom says it is like stepping back in time and you could almost imagine a dinosaur passing by :)

  2. I'm always impressed how big this ships are for real... and I wonder that only some peeps on board can manage such a giant shoe-box like ride...maybe your own jungle was the set for Jurassic Park once?

  6. It totally looks like a box, weird that it can be ocean ready. We thought it looked like you were in the jungle on your walk.

  7. That was a lovely walk through your jungle. It felt like we were right there with you.
And yes, wow, the freight ship is HUGE and, yes, square. So much bigger than the ships we see in Aberdeen harbour. We are wondering if such a vessel ever goes out into the open ocean or maybe the containers are reloaded onto a more seaworthy ship?
    Toodle pip and cheers!

what a fabby little film!!! As you know, I am fond of a ship or two and this one is very different from any I see here.... it almost look like it left the superstructure out at sea!!! Like trucks which unhitch their trailers.... love the sheltie swishies!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Me again... had a few minnies to play with my shipping softwares... Mitch and Molly were onto it when they called this a 'barge'... actually, just typing in Crowley shipping brings up interesting info. Then, with a bit of searching, found this piccie, which is labelled "oil spill barge". Clearly never designed with a superstructure at all. However, there are ships being built now which will be 'unmanned' and they are initially launched without superstructure, thus looking very like this. See here.....

Don't worry. I'm really quite ordinary..... Yxx

  9. It's moving a lot faster than we thought it would. We've only seen tugs manoeuvring ships onto the docks, so we just assumed they always moved slowly.

  17. That big ship looks very heavy, those tugs must have to work very hard to get it moving so quickly.

Love, love, love seeing you two walking in the jungle. We are guessing Denny hasn't much choice but to keep up with you, Reilly, as we see you two have your walking strings attached. Great place for a cool stroll.
