Can we say "YUM"

Woo hoo - Mom said we were going to do another indoor project today and guess what we made - COOKIES for MEEEEEEE all for MMMMMEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
What do you mean I have to share them with the dweebs Mom - they didn't help making them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOUL I say - unfair I say - What The Dog I say!"Just get on with your blog Reilly" Mom says! Okay but I still don't think it's fair! So we went on Bullwrinkle.com and found this nice easy recipe for milkbone cookies - which of coarse the "Mom being the Mom" had to change a bit - she thought they might be a bit flavorless so she added some chicken baby food and some cheese so our cookies became Chickin 'n' Cheese Milkbones.

Heres the recipe http://www.bullwrinkle.com/Assets/Recipes/Milk%20Bone%20Dog%20Biscuits.htm Mom simply added 1 jar of chicken baby food and 1/3 cup of finely shredded cheese

Okay - Step 1 & 2 First collect all the ingredients you need (yeah yeah - we are only showing some of them!) Then measure out the flour - hey Mom - this is messy stuff - where's my apron!

Step 2 & 3 - Add the wet ingredients and stir. Then you have to go in with all paws and "knead it" until it forms a ball. YES! I washed my paws first.

Step 5 & 6 - Mom scored this collection of doggie shaped cookie cutters on Amazon for $4 so I thought I would give them a try. But then the Mom said "hold on there budaroo - those are awfully big cookies and you are already a chunky monkey - you don't NEED BIG cookies". What The Dog MOM!!!!!! Can you believe she said that!!!! Then to add injury to insult she only let us have one BIG cookie each and then made me cut out all these teeny tiny bones - SLAVE LABOR I say!!! And if that wasn't bad enough - can you BELIEVE she FORCED me to eat a nice tasty bone so I wouldn't eat the cookie dough!!!! And again I question "why are the dweebs getting any - middle sized dweeb is outside barking at 'who knows what' and the small dweeb has not got his sorry butt out of bed yet and it's 11.00am for dogs sake!!!!"

Okay - I digress - Step 7 & 8 - After cutting out soooooooo many teeny tiny bone shapes I QUIT and refused to cut any more - that was rough going on the paws let me tell you! So Mom said "okay - we will do some big ones just to remind you of your buddies" We have one for our Basset Buddies - Martha and Bailey and Fred and Gloria, a dreaded C.A.T which we thought TANK would enjoy taking a bite out of (he can think of it as Allred), a scottie dog for Jazzi, Sweet William and Stewart, a Collie for Sherman and Essex, an Airedale for Mitch, Molly, Wyatt, Stanzie and Miss Sunshine, a retriever for Bert and Finn, Shelties for Katie, Eva, Oreo, Chewy, Ricky, Java, Miley, Guiness, Bailey, Katy and all the other shelties (sorry I am 5 my memory is going on me) and for everyone else who we didn't have dog shapes for - we made dog houses, paw prints and fire hydrants. This recipe made A LOT of cookies! Now the torture begins because the cookies have finished cooking and we have to WAIT yes I said WAIT! for them to cool down.

Decisions decisions - which one will I try first ?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CAN ONLY HAVE ONE!
MOM I WORKED MY PAWS OFF MAKING THOSE!

Hmm one should probably ponder on the fact that we are gnoshing down on our own likenesses - but what the heck - when they taste this good - who cares if we are dogabulls

Suncatchers and Dogervising

The Mom in all her wisdom (or as we like to call it "her wacky ideas time" decided we needed to do some indoor activities because we are sooooooo bored being inside all the time with this hot weather.

So today she decided to make her own suncatcher and asked if I would help with dogervising. First we began by sorting out the beads into their respective colors (not an easy task considering us dogs are supposedly color blind!)

Next she laid them out in a pattern in a baking tin (personally I think making a large dog cookie would of been better Mom!) Now for anyone interested in trying this - these are just cheapo plastic beads she got from the craft store and you can arrange them "any old how" you want. You can make them any size too - Mom has even seen them made in muffin pans.

Anyway, Mom kept adding beads until the tray was full then I had to give it my woof of approval - yep that will do Mom (even though I still think a cookie would of been better). It went into a 450 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Then we let it cool and turned it out - and this is what we got - pretty neat huh! Needless to say the dweebs just barked at it and tried chasing the funny colors that were shining on the ground from it. Dweebs will be dweebs is all I can say! Mom says she has another project tomorrow - I hope this one involves cookies!

Dogville Olympics

We had every intention of entering the Blogville Olympics - but we didn't quite make it - so we did our own Dogville Olympics instead :)

Oh - if you like Jack (the doggie - you can purchase him from IC Clipart)

Pssss if you listen carefully to the song it says -

The Mystery of the Babble Balls

We are beginning to wonder if we have ghosties in our house. Now you remember my talking babble balls - (there is a little video of them if you haven't seen them before) well they sit right here next to my bed - they have been there for weeks and weeks - never moving or being played with - but for the last few days something weird has been happening. Weilly and I will be having a nice snooze and they will suddenly start babbling - ALL BY THEMSELVES !!!!

Weilly - he just sleeps through it but it always makes me jump up and wonder what is happening. Nothing touches them, they don't move, no breeze or anything to trigger them - but they just start babbling. Do you think they are upset that I haven't played with them for awhile or is there something else happening??? Oh oh - I think I am going to stay close to Weilly - not that I am scared or anything - gulp!

Bugger!

Aussies like my Mom and Kiwi's (New Zealanders) have a term they like to use which is "bugger" It is - as Mom says a more polite type of expletive word for those "situations" that arise such as tripping over a dog when you have your hands full of grandmas fine china. Mom loves this commercial that she remembers from years ago for Toyota trucks and it perfectly uses the word 'bugger'. We hope you enjoy and get a chuckle from it too. Mom seems to think that with all this hot weather we are having and all of us doggies staying indoors and under foot that many of the pawrents could use a term such as this :) :)

Cheese and Tomato Dog Biscuits

Cheese and Tomato Dog Biscuits

1/3 cup margarine

1/2 cup of water

1 small jar of beef or chicken baby food

1/2 cup milk

1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

2 medium tomatoes – remove seeds and access liquid – chop up finely

1 egg, beaten

1 cup rolled oats

4 cups whole wheat flour

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, margarine, and water. Let stand 10 minutes. Grease cookie sheets.

Thoroughly stir in baby food, milk, Cheddar cheese, tomato and egg. Mix in flour, 1 cup at a time, until stiff dough has formed.

Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in additional flour as necessary until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut with cookie cutter (we prefer bone shaped), and place 1 inch apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.

We also like to sprinkle a little of the cheese on the top of the biscuit.

Bake 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Cool before serving. Store in a loosely covered container.

Sssshhhh don't tell Weilly

Ssssshhhh don't tell Weilly - but while he was having a bath in his new birthday shampoo (which he just loved ....NOT!) I got to have one his birthday treats and let me tell you - it was delicious! It was a piece of dried bison and I enjoyed it sooooo much.

Like many places we are still sweltering - it has been over a month now that we have had 90+ degrees every day and we can't wait until winter arrives!

Today we off to make tomato chutney with the Mom as our tomatoes just went crazy this year and we have so many Mom has had to be creative finding ways to use them. Last week she made spicy homemade arrabiata pasta sauce with red wine for dad - now he has plenty to last him in the freezer. Mom has even found us a tomato and cheese dog biscuit recipe for us and is going to make us some cookies!!!! We would be happy to share our recipes if anyone wants them.

The Bestest Birthday

I have had the bestest birthday so far - it started with a walk, then a brushing (which I really could of done without Mom!) but she said I had to look presentable to go out. As if I look anything other than that !

Then Mom gave me a special breakfast with some chunks of SPAM in it! I must admit I thought SPAM was a bit weird as I am ALWAYS deleting it off my blog... but this SPAM was pawsome! Mom said it was a birthday day treat only though and I won't be getting it again until next birthday - which I am pretty sure is tomorrow isn't it Mom?

Next we headed off to the pet store. Mom told them straight away I was a birthday boy and I got not one - but a whole handful of treats. Score for the Reilly!!!! Next stop was the freezer to get me some raw bison bones - yum my favorite! I love that our local pet store carries all the raw food treats and food.

Then we checked out the toy section - but you know - I am not into toys anymore - they are cool to look at but I didn't see anything to take my fancy. I have only ever had one favorite toy which was my Blue Moose and sadly the Stuffanator (Denny) finally did him in a few months ago. The only other thing I will play with - is my tug rope.

Now the bone section - THAT was more my style and I picked up some bully sticks, some hoof things (for the dweebs - yeah I am generous on MY birthday) and some other tasty munchies. We also hit the cookie aisle and treat aisle and got some goodies there too.

Then we went to my other favorite pet store and look what Mom got me - my very own Birthday Cake from the Barkery! This is a special doggie birthday cake - thank dogness cause otherwise Dad would be into it!

And here I am back home with my birthday stash. We got some new grain free food for me to try, some shampoo for my itchies (thanks Mom - but NO bath today okay!) and lots of treats which can you believe it - Mom says I can't have all of them today that I have to spread them out. MOM ! Birthdays are for piggin out on! Oh well at least my birthday goodies will last a couple of weeks!

Guess What Today Is ?

My beautiful wonderful boy Reilly is 5 years old today

Do you think I got it wrong?

MOMMMMMMM are you out there somewhere? You have gone missing AGAIN - I haven't seen you in two whole days - you never said where you were going, you didn't ask if "other" Mommie would look after me,.....HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME - HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE ME ???

It all started when my Mom got a new boyfriend and ever since HE came on the scene I have been completely neglected by her. She never takes me anywhere, never takes me walkies or the pet store anymore and never cares for me. SHE just wants ME to cuddle HER when she is here and the rest of the time forgets about me and look at me - I am so darn cute how could anyone neglect me?.

Other Mommy (Reilly and Denny's Mom) - she gives me baths, clips my toenails, soothes me when I have the weezes, cuddles me, takes me for walkies, feeds me, buys my food and favorite treats....do you think that makes her MY REAL MOM - can you adopt me too please 'other Mommy?

Reilly says he is sorry he hasn't been visiting much lately - he has been busy taking care of his Mom and she has been busy taking care of him and both of them are taking care of Denny and all of them are taking care of ME!

Pawtraites

We followed Mitch and Molly's link over to Genista Pawtraits and we were so impressed by her beautiful work we though we would share the information here too. Miss Hilary is also giving away a free pet portrait if you pop on over to her blog and leave a message. Here is an example of her beautiful work which is done in pastels - and yes she does doggies too.

Finally cool enough to......

Go for a walkies at MY lake. This morning it is grey, overcast and cool - what could be more perfect? All those pee mails to catch up on and to leave, squirrels to chase, birds to scare and joggers to watch - what could be better?

This is how it really is

I know - it looks soooooo cute when we all sit together for the Mom while she takes photos with the flashy beast but this is NOT how it REALLY is !!!!

Reality is.......I do not want to be anywhere near to those two and this is the normal picture Mom gets - with me sitting to one side - aloof and dignified - and those two are all buddy buddy, chummy chummy.

It takes A LOT of tasty bribery for me to sit any where near those two cootie infested dweebs so you can imagine how AWFUL it has been being cooped up with them for the past three weeks while the temps have been above 100. All that playing and running around in the house, toys EVERYWHERE and sucking up to MY Mom and Dad for attention - erk! Really - you have no idea what I have had to suffer through. Trust me - the "Life of Reilly" isn't what it's cracked up to be!
