Some of you may have noticed we haven't been around a lot the last couple of weeks this is because Mom hasn't been very well and has been in a real lot of pain. She has been going back and forth between specialists and they have finally decided the best option for her is to have surgery to insert a pain pump in her. It is about the size of a little pacemaker (about 2 inches round) and will be put under the skin on her side with a catheter that goes directly into the spine where is can deliver a small amount of pain medication at a constant level to the nerves. Unfortunately Mom has three different things going on at the same time which is why normal medicine hasn't been helping her and this will be able to address all three. It will be a few weeks before they can do the surgery and then she will need a little time to heal afterwards. They do say once Mom has this done she should be able to resume a normal life again but until then we will be reading all the bloggies but just won't be posting much ourselves. Of coarse we will be there nursing Mom every step of the way as we all know that we doggies are the best medicine after all :)
Our hearts go out to Bree and pray that all works out and she is pain free.

ReplyDeleteHope your mom is feeling better soon! Constant pain makes even accomplishing small tasks difficult.
ReplyDeleteI just came over after reading your comment on my blog. Mum has to take strong pain medication because she cannot have the pump inserted because she has an interstim in her back which means that I cannot have anything else inserted. But the interstim doesn't work too well so I may be having it removed. I am going to see my back doctor in October and we will discuss my options. In the meantime we all have all our paws cross nad sending the POTP to you from all of us.
