Live Long and Prosper!

Mom says she is taking me (Reilly) to the vets tomorrow - a few months back she noticed this weird growth on  my front left foot pad (it almost looked like a nail growing out of it). Mr Vet said it was a callous and wasn't causing any problems so we would just keep an eye on it.

Yesterday I didn't want to walk down to the mail box with her - something I ALWAYS do and Mom noticed I was holding my paw up. She called Mr Vet straight away but it was his day off and he is in surgery all day today so the earliest we can see him is first thing tomorrow. I must admit it has got very ouchie and now I can hardly walk on it and when Mom checked the callous had changed color (it is now black!), shape and size and was bleeding a bit. Admittedly I have been licking at it A LOT - but hey it hurts - so what is a guy to do?

She is also worried because my toes on that foot have suddenly spread too.  Mom says it looks like I am doing the Vulcan "live long and prosper" sign - what ever that means!!!!  Hopefully Mr Vet can figure out what is going on tomorrow.

  2. Bailey gets those too from time to time. The doggy doctor gives him some meds and they go away, but he keeps getting them. Katy doesn't seem to have an issue with them.

  3. Mr Vet can't have been good if he didn't realise your callous thing wasn't good! I really hope you get better soon because you can't go around on three paws - well, you can, because I've met a husky who was missing a front leg - and I don't want that to happen to you!
Look on the bright side though, Reilly - you are the only dog, I think, who can do the Vulcan fingers!

  6. That is bizarre. I hope you get it sorted. Sounds like Bailey gets whatever it is too. Until then, to quote another friend, "nanoo nanoo" x

P.S. we had a horror 40+ day yesterday. Back down to 20s again today. Hope your family in SA is good. I think Tas and SA are really copping it this year. Hotter than Darwin. Who would have thought?

  13. Hopefully just a little ouchie. When Tucker got older his nails started growing sort of sideways. I had to keep them cut short or he would be walking on them. I had to keep a close eye on those nails.
