Day 2 - #DogWalkingWeek

We are joining My GBGV Life and Cascadian Nomads in their #DogWalkingWeek celebration. The idea is to think of ways to get those peeps motivated to take you out EVERY day for a walk and an adventure. Our second motivation is "go on the search for an historical building pre 1900"

Our day 2 had us heading off to a teeny town called Powhatan that has a population of 76...... in search of the Powhatan Court House which was built in 1888 in an Italianate-style and we must say it has stood the test of time well after some well deserved restoration work. Sitting a top of a hill it overlooks the Black River below and the Powhatan State Park and we love going there. The courthouse is also a museum storing many important papers and artifacts from bygone years and it is free to look around. To reach the courthouse from the park below we had to climb approximately 70 steps but there are nice little platform areas with benches to rest on as you go - not that WE needed those but Mom was sure grateful for them :)

  1. Look at that gorgeous blue sky!

The courthouse looks amazing for its age. I think the whole town could probably live in there....

  6. that's a great place! Has your mom visited the museum? do you know why dogs aren't allowed in such museum-thingies? I can't understand that, I mean there are just old things inside, there is nothing what's brandnew and needs protection...

  10. If they let it run down just a bit, it could be the spooky mansion for Halloween.

  12. Those steps would have been a challenge for the Momster too, and maybe for Phantom. We had to squeeze in a quick walk in between the huge downpours!!!
