Backyard Visitors

Enjoying the shade
Who knew a backyard pond could be so interesting - at least to the Mom. So far we have seen Canada Geese (with babies), Mallard Ducks, a Big of Grey Heron, smaller White Herons, a Cormorant, Turtles, Frogs and Toads. Silly Mom loves feeding the geese and even the turtles have been coming over to munch on some yummies  (they even  snap at the geese to shoo them away :)

The froggies sing their hearts out between 6 and 10 o'clock in the evening when for some reason they suddenly stop - much to Mom and Dads relief as they really loud. You don't really hear them inside the house but if we are sitting in the sun room they can be deafening. We also get to watch the cats that live on the other side of the pond - there are three of them and all is well providing they stay on their side of the pond - if I catch them on my side - well let's just say the fur will fly!

  2. Oh, the boys would love that backyard pond too!... and all that goose poop to roll in! Well, Brychwyn and Wilhelm like perfumed rolling. Huxley never wants to muss up his luxuriously long fur! ;)

  4. That looks so pretty. I am surprised some of the neighbors have big fences blocking their view of the pond. Oh well, it makes it better to enjoy fur you.

  5. Looks wonderful. Watch out for alligators! Our Jessy who lives in Florida (Boca area) says they often see alligators in the canals and ponds. She also has a story about he alligator's parking space. Everyone knows an alligator comes out of the canal to bask in the sun of a certain parking lot every day at the same time. Don't park in the alligator's parking spot because he'll crawl under your car and you'll have to walk home! Did you see any quick little lizards yet? They're so fast that if you don't know to look, you'll never see them! The ones in the lower parts of the trees and bushes are usually brown. The green ones live higher up in the trees. Have fun and keep cool!

  10. Hmm...we've been away awhile so we're guessing that this is your new home. Hope that all is well. Watch out for the Canada Geese, they can a bit testy if you get too close

  12. That would not be for us. We can't stand the Canadian Geese, they are so mean and poop all over. They are so bad here, it is allowed to hunt them, and I'm scared to death of turtles. Glad you like those things.

  14. that all sounds great except for the geese. If you keep feeding them (and even if you don't), you will have goose poop galore. We have a real Canadian Geese overload here in Michigan, the volume of poop that they leave is unreal. My suggestion? Don't encourage them by feeding them...you will also get all kinds of critters that you might not want there as well

  15. That is VERY exciting! What a lot of critters you get to see. BUT, if those cats are anything like those Front Yard Cats that annoy us, they'll find a way to get to your house.

  16. Lots of new things to see. Reading through your comments, we too hope you don't see any of those alligators.

  17. OMD, that must be SO MUCH FUN!!! I thinks I would chase all the critters and probably end up falling into the pond! Then I would look at Ma like it's her fault it happened! BOL (yes, something like that DID happen...I don't want to talk abouts it....)
Anyhu, I'm sure you guys are gonna make lots of FABulous furiends there!!

  20. Wow, got to love that wild life!

The sound of frogs reminds my peep of her Grandma's farm, always sounded of frogs at night, sometimes little ones would climb the windows.

  22. No frogs? Good! Be careful of those! They're the crazy ones with smooth skin that bubbles when you attack them.
