So there we were 'leaping' around the big rocks of the breakwater because Mom said today is a leap year day when we noticed not 1, not 2 but 3 ships leaving and heading out into the ocean. These were no ordinary ships though - the first one was the HMCS Chalottetown 339 which is a Halifax Class Frigate and it belong to the Canadian Navy. The second ship is the HMCA Athabaskan 282 and is an Iroquios Class Destroyer - and also belongs to the Canadian Navy. Lastly was the SPS Patino A14 and it is a Replenishment Oiler (it fills up other ships) and it belongs to the Spanish Navy. Oh my dog - for a minute there we thought we had been invaded!
Hey, you see more Canadian ships than I do and I live in Canada. Does your Mom know they added the Royal back on to the name again so it's the Royal Canadian Navy? And HMCS stands for Her Majesty's Canadian Ship. I'm sure it's the same in Australia.
Hari OM YYaaaayyyyyyyyy - As I live just down the Clyde from Faslane naval (and nuclear &*{) base, I get to see all sorts of ships - but rarely so clearly, cuz there's ususally a haar between me and them! Halifax-class frigate, eh? Hmmm.... I had just decided during my planning for the big trip over, that I will end my tour in Halifax NS!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
you have the bestest beach ever... I would sit there the whole day... ship watching is one of the bestest things ever... sadly our beach is nearly ship free eggs-cept from the MS razzle-dazzle and another thing what looks like the boat of the flying dutchman :o)
How cool to see all those ships from around the world! Mom is thinking of doing what your mom is doing but with airplanes. We are practically right under a major flight path into O'Hare and you can see which flights they are and where from on the radar. Sounds like fun and will make up for the noise and drop in property values, maybe. Love Dolly
Wow, those are some cool ships! Did you ask if you could leap onto them?
ReplyDeleteKeep Calm & Bark On!

There is only one ship near where I live, but it never moves (it's kinda like a museum). You guys get to see different ones everyday! Cool!

ReplyDeleteMom says those look like old boats from the old TV shows, not the modern ships she would expect.
ReplyDeleteWow! you had an interesting Leap Year Day! We're so glad you didn't leap onto those ships!
ReplyDeleteIt must have made you nervous seeing those warships heading out to sea!
