It was chilly chilly on the beach this morning but Mom rugged up like a polar bear and off we went to do a bit of beachcombing. The wind was howling and blowing sand this way and that and we didn't hold out much hope of finding anything but guess what - there was treasures! We found a couple of nice big prickly scallop shells, some small fighting conches, moon shells, a lettered olive shell and a skate egg case (skates look like a kind of sting ray). Mom was happy and we were happy because we got to go for a long walkies :) Remember you can click on the photo's to see them bigger.
oh that are really treasures from Mr. Neptun's chest :o) maybe ??? is a kind of a wedge clam?
ReplyDeleteGoodness, you two certainly found spectacular treasures on your beach stroll! We crabby girls are clacking our claws with glee to see such a variety. Thank you, darlings for letting us see your fabulous finds.

Dear Reilly and Denny,
ReplyDeleteAny day on the Beach is a good day! (Unless the wind is blowing up places it should not blow on any respectable dog.) That is amazing that your person knows how to name most of those shells! She is very clever! I would just chew on them.

Wow! I am so impressed with your collection of shells from the beach, they are so much bigger than the ones I find.

That's a good haul! You are awesome beachcombers!
ReplyDeleteLook at all those treasures!!! Well done, pals! Usually the best shells are on the other coast but you found some doozies!
ReplyDeleteWhat are you going to do with the shells. At a craft show we saw the most delicate tiny angel make from shells. We have a miniature cactus growing in a large shell, it made a nice pot. I envy your beach excursions.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend

Happy Friday, WE love shells and you've got quite a collection there. Now I've learned the names of some like the Moon shells. The one you have a question about looks like a long neck calm shell to me. How fun to be able, even in the cold, to go for walks along the beach. Hunter has never been to the ocean and I don't know how he'd react. Have a great weekend.

We're so glad you could do some real beach combing and find shells! Having a longer walk wasn't bad either.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of treasure. People pay good money for shells.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great walk!!! Isn't it great - something for you guys AND for your mom!
ReplyDeleteWe love that Lettered Olive Shell!

Wow ...... your Mom scored big time, aye?? My Mum found one of those things you call a moon shell yesterday. It was blue. Crikey it was pretty. She also found a baby turtle shell. It's hatching time. Only problem was it was only half a shell. It had teeth marks. Wonder what got it. Poor wee little thing.
ReplyDeleteLook at all those most beautiful shells!! Great finds!
