We are back to having WARM clear blue sunny skies (64 degrees today) which of coarse is totally perfect for a bit of exploring so off we went. First we headed off to MY Mayport Navy Beach and although we didn't find any treasures today Mom did get a couple of nice photos (see that ship behind us in the distance - that is actually a floating Casino). We also checked out one of the other small parks near the lake on the Navy Base. It is very pretty but not a lot of room for us furbabies to walk as all the base housing is built around it. Mom then decided it has been a while since we went to MY Hanna Abbey Cowspotdog Park. We were enjoying a nice walk and stopped to talk to an elderly gentleman who was taking photos of all the birds - he told us to be VERY careful walking on the paths closest to the lake as there was a 6 foot long alligator spotted sunning itself on the banks yesterday. Mom decided a walk around the lake wasn't such a good idea after that but she did manage to get some photos of this grey heron that was busy building a nest - I guess that means spring must coming :)
Yikes - alligator! I can't imagine running into that! Is there alligator spray you can carry or is it best just to run like the dickens if you encounter one?
