Many of you know that our Mom is an Aussie (from Australia) even though she lives here in the USA now. Many of you may also know that Australia is famous for having the deadliest snakes in the world and if you watch the wild life shows - it makes it seem like they everywhere in Australia. Well our Mom lived most of her life in South Australia's mid north - which is pretty much the desert and prime snake area according to the TV shows - the problem is - in all her years of living there and roaming through the sandhills and bush as a kid - Mom has only ever seen two snakes. Sure you can 'find' them if you go deliberately looking for them but most of the time the snakes sense when something is coming and stay out of the way. So Mom thinks it is kind of funny that she has seen more snakes here in the USA then she ever did back home in Australia. Point being made - look what we saw swimming in MY lake yesterday - yep - a snake. (And no it wasn't a stick - it was definitely a snake and moving fast) It was about 3 foot long (thankfully about 20 feet away from us) but a snake never the less. And look what he was heading for - smorgasbord on a log! We doubt very much the snakes eat the turtles but Mom thought it was funny anyway. We wondered how many more turtles could squeeze themselves onto that log?
Ewww, snakes!!! That's something would make my mom scream her lungs out. We don't see many snakes here but we do encounter monitor lizards on and off. There was one once visited us and made Mom and Sister Rosie scared but excited as well.
ReplyDeleteThe picture with turtles is awesome!
OMD snakes.....yikes and look at all those turtles. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Mom just saw a snake over the weekend. Frightening!
ReplyDeleteSometimes we have snakes in our yard. But never any turtles. I love to see all those turtles sunning themselves.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Snakes in the water, how will I ever go swimming again, LOL.
ReplyDeleteCrash, bang, boom ...oops sorry that was my assistant running away. She is scared of snakes
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
Momz sez the water snakes are the ones that scare her the most...They drop out of trees when she's out in the kayak...I've only seen a few harmless ones around the garden and I leave them well alone...Turtles on a log are fun...But they always dive under when I try to get close
ReplyDeleteIck, that us the one thing our mom can't handle! Snakes scare her, and she will not near them.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Ireland never had snakes...until recently. People snuck them into the country, as pets, and then either released them of they escaped. Now Ireland has snakes too!
Mom isn't too keen on snakes either, but we seem to keep finding them in our yard. Just harmless ones, but they really freak her out, especially when she sees us trying to play with them:)
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
I've never seen so many turtles in one place! How cool.
ReplyDeleteSNakes....ack! Run!
SHE has only seen two in the area, too. But SHE's always on the lookout. SHE's afraid we'll run into a snake who hasn't read the books saying they'll slither away and not bother you if you leave them alone!
ReplyDeleteOf course, we didn't leave one of them alone.
Love the turtles on the log!
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
We have water snakes near our pond and every time mom sees one, she screams like it's the first time she's ever seen it. The woman absolutely HATES snakes!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥

OMD OMD OMD look at that snake! Good thing Goose wasn't there thinking it was a stick!! Madness!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, we think that snake is going to the house of Slytherin. Harry Potter here we come.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I don't mind snakes on land, but snakes in the water creeps me out. I think the turtles are sort of "board of turtles" (you know, like a board of directors)....pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteTell your Mum thanks for the "Spring" card, we got it today when we picked up the mail from the post office after our trip!
We do not like snakes, period
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Oh wow, we are terrified of those snakes!!
ReplyDeleteNo snakes for this Ma EVER...didn't even allow the kids to have rubber snakes as kids! Scares me to death!! RUNNNNNN!
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of snakes too...just little garden snakes that sun themselves in the warm garden places.

ReplyDeleteI hope you gots to see your snake up close..

I have never seen a snake. My peep has seen a couple in the wild, two at the family farm (her Grandma shot one!) and one when she was walking home from school. They were all brown snakes!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I hate snakes. We have a lot of snakes here. They just scare me.
ReplyDeleteYikes... run.. I don't likes snakes.. What those are turtles on that log.. Now how cool is that :) xx00xx
