Tick Fest 2013

Dog oh dog - we have had the most pawsome day - two different parks, a brand new Petsmart store and 3 hours of driving in MY car!!!! Then it all got ruined when we got home - sigh!

See Mom decided this morning to take us on an adventure all the way to MY other parks in the hopes that it wouldn't be so bad with ticks - WRONG - they were even worse!

Sorry to gross everyone out - but this is what she has found so far and a timely reminder to check your pupsters after EVERY walk!  - Mom says she feels like one of those monkeys that combs through the fur of other monkeys looking for insects - only she doesn't eat them!!!! She drops them into nail polish remover - kills the little buggers instantly! So far she has found 30 - mostly on ME (Reilly) !!!! She found about 5 on Dweeb and one on her herself. We are all too freaked out to post pictures of our adventures today....hopefully tomorrow. Mom says NO MORE WALKS in the park - DEFINITELY NOT and NOT EVEN A MAYBE.

  14. Ewww... As much as I complain about the heat here, it also means we have no ticks and seldom any fleas.

  17. Wow. I don't think we have ticks up here...well..we must because the deer have them...but I've never seen one on us or the dogs. Hmmmm.....I got one once when I was in Kentucky last summer and we walked in the woods. Otherwise no experience with them at all. Guess that's a good reason to stay north!

  25. Ticks are awful here year round...Topicals never worked for us ... Right now I'm testing out the Seresto collar and after a trip to a very "ticky" trail I only found one on Gizmo which was really great...Also i found a gadget called a "tick key" that was the easiest tick removal ever...just slid the little bugger right off with no pulling and got the head and all

  30. Your mom is very brave to go through your furs and remove those ticks. My mom is a total freak about ticks too. No woodland walkies for us during the summer and she won't even let me stick my snooter into tall grass along the road without stopping and checking.

    Kisses,
    Dexter

P.S. We get our yard sprayed with anti-tick stuff once a month during the summer.
