It is one of Mom's weird Aussie words - to go 'donga-bashing' means to go
You know why - cause of those darn ticks - they are really starting to 'tick' me off! Dad woke Mom up the other night (1.30 am in the morning actually) and said he felt something crawling on his back. Mom turned on the light and sure enough - there was a tick crawling on Dad. (We had been to the park that day) At least it hadn't bitten him like one did Mom. That meant changing the sheets, checking all over and a very restless sleep because Mom says the mind plays funny tricks and makes you think are are feeling creep crawlies on you even when there isn't anything. Hmmm didn't bother us at all !!!
So now we have to stick to the paved paths - I wonder if the ticks know they are not supposed to be on there???
No they don't guys cos we are still finding the little bloodsuckers all over the place...mom has the heebiejeebies!

We haven't found any yet, but we know they are coming...only a matter of time!
ReplyDeleteYikes have a terrific tick free Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
oh no! I hate ticks! Luckily we don't get that many bad ones here and it hasn't quite warmed up enough yet for them, but we is going away for a couple of days 'donga bashing' and Mum has brought a special tick picker just in case!

Pulled a tick off Oreo last night. Yuk! It is hard to escape them this time of year.
ReplyDeleteTicks....awful. We're lucky that right in our area it's usually too dry for them. However, one of the former scotties, Carys, used to get them when she walked by the school Ag plot. Now that area has been built up and we haven't had a problem. Just to think that something so small can wreck your walks....totally UNFAIR.

We can't stand ticks! Mom has walked down to the mailbox to get the mail and found a tick on her shoe! The little buggers are out of control! grrrrrrrrrr
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥

I am sorry you cant go off the path, but those ticks are scary so it is best to stay away and be safe.

Oh no! Glad it didn't bite your Pops!
ReplyDeleteI have not seen any blood suckers yet, but with the rainy wet spring I am sure they are just waiting to latch on. I don't like spiders and snakes and I don't like ticks either.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend

Same story here, no tall grasses or off the path walks for us either. But those ticks are everywhere!

Wow, I can't believe what a problem this is!! I only had 1 experience ever with a tick and that was plenty for this chick!
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing about these ticks. I have never had one, nope not in all my 13 years. I must be super lucky because about all MOM and I take it the path less taken, if there is a path at all.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
We remember our tic wars. It took Dad several months to figure out how to eradicate those #4@#%#.

Darn ticks anyway! I found one in my hair last summer when we were in TN after we hiked down to some waterfalls. Was creepy.
ReplyDeleteWe are Aussie and haven't heard of "Donga-bashing"!! But sticking to the paths isn't a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your walks.
