Mom had to go over to MY dogtors this morning and pick up some of my medication and as luck would have it MY dogtors office is right next the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens - his backyard shares a fence with it. So after picking up the meds we headed off for a walkies in the gardens and today decided to follow the 'Little Ravine" path. We haven't been down this path before and right at the start of it was this giant bird - Mom said it looked like some prehistoric emu - it stood about 16 feet tall. The little ravine path winds its way down a ravine that has lots of wonderful little pools of crystal clear water, little creeks and all sorts of palm trees and ferns. We followed it for about 40 minutes and eventually it came out at the big lake we have visited before. We thought this was a good spot to just rest for a while although it was really Mom that needed a rest - we are like energizers bunnies and can just keep going and going and going:)
Wow that is a BIG birdie!
ReplyDeleteYou two look very, very handsome posing there, just pawfect

that's pawsome that your dogtors have such a fabulous place near their house...do you think that this emu is the ancestor of Big Bird from Sesame Street?

That's great! There is a really nice place near Boca Raton called Flamingo Gardens, where there are lots of birds who can't be released back into the wild: flamongos, ibis, gallinule, spoonbills, storks, pelicans etc. Plus there are huge trees and pretty flowers. You can feed the birds and some of them follow you around. Be sure to visit there if you're in the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWe would scream at that thing

What a beautiful place for a walk!!! We have an arboretum here too - Mom has been there but not us - we need to get her to let us go too. You two sure found some great resting spots.

How lucky is that??!! The Dogtor's being right next to that fabulous walk!!! (Glad you only had to pick up medicine, too.)
ReplyDeleteI think I'd bark it, BOL!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool bird! You always find the most unique places to explore!
ReplyDeleteWe think it looks like an ostrich...did you try gnawing on its leg, they are tasty! BOL, we're just kidding.
ReplyDeleteReilly, we heard about your new mouth problems. We hope that between the dogter and some medicine you're gonna be a-okay in no time again.

My mom likes to combine errands and fun walks too, but in the summer it is hard to do because of the heat.
ReplyDeleteI love the giant bird! How cool!
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better Reilly and that you are taking good care of mom for all of those walkies. Love Dolly
