Turtles don't lie

We think it is official - the turtles have come out of hibernation at the lake and are out sunning themselves - which means spring must be just around the corner. Maybe Punxsutawney Phil got it right this year!  With only a 34% accuracy the odds were not in his favor - but the turtles - now that is another story and we all know turtles don't lie - right!

We guess the turtles are still a little cold though because this guy didn't move even when Mom got within 3 feet of him - normally they dive in the water if you so much as look at them from 30 feet away!

Yesterday was a wonderful 60 degrees and it was a bright and sunny - perfect for a wander in the park which is what we did - heck we even thought it was a little too warm for us - we worked up quite a pant!!!!   It still looks pretty bleak - all brown a dead looking but we did find this nice bed of green moss to rest on. Oh - moss also means spring !!!!

  1. Hurray! Thank you, turtles...thank you!

  2. Yeeppee spring will be here soon. Have a fabulous Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. You guys are so pretty and just smile so nicely....we wish it was 60 here!!!

  4. I'd trust a turtle over a ground squirrel any day.

  5. If Mr turtle is sunning himself than for sure spring is on the way, BOL

  6. We have always thought turtles were we are going to trust in the turtles! :)

  7. There'll be buds on those trees very soon if that weather keeps up. Great walk. SHE rugs up like an Inuit when it gets to 70!

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

  8. Oh, that is such good news!! Yes, Phil gots it right this year. It's gonna be 73 again today! It's so nice, it feels like April arounds here! Butts, next week it's gonna be cold and rainy agains, so I'm enjoying it all right NOW!!
    Have a nice sunbath guys!

  9. 60 sounds fantastic! Lucky dogs :)

  10. We've been having very warm temps here so we would believe Punxsutawney Phil except for the snowstorm he dumped on us a week ago and now another one is predicted!
We haven't seen any turtles in our pond yet, Reilly. It's still too cold here.

    Love ya lots,
    Mitch and Molly

  11. Well it's been a strange winter here, 4 inches os snow Tuesday then one inch of nothing but mud the next. Hope that there Turtle is right, let spring sprung!

  12. Oooo...turtles? Hm, I've never seen these little guys before, but I bet that they are super fun to watch! :-) I can see signs of Spring where I live too...isn't it fabulous (especially the weather!)?! :-D Well, have a great weekend filled with lots of trips to the mossy and brown park!

  13. I think we got to 29 today. A tiny bit of sun too! Our ice isn't melting on the ponds though so our turtles are still napping.

You guys look just great out there in the leaves and on the moss! Glad your turtles are out...I have never known a turtle to lie. Never.

  14. Hmmm, that Turtle must be one cool customer.

  15. Love that turtle and it has his big lake! My dad's niece once had two tiny turtles in a small container, one went across the Rainbow Bridge and the other one is lonely all the time.

  16. Hope springs eternal. We've been getting a lot of rain and grey skies here lately, which is a bummer for the last month of summer X

  17. We saw a whole bunch of birds yesterday in the trees -- thought that was odd -- but maybe spring is coming sooner than we thought. Maybe the groundhog was right.

Thank you for woofing at us - we read each and every one of them
