Gala of the Royal Horses

Can you believe Mom and Dad had a date night without us last night - we were abandoned for 3 whole hours while they went off and enjoyed themselves. And where did they go - they went to see something called the "Gala of the Royal Horses". Mom has always loved horses and these in particular are some of her favorite breeds - the black ones are the Friesians and are a horse breed that originated in Friesland, in the Netherlands. The white ones are the famous Lipizzaners - the Spanish Dancing horses. Did you know that General Patton actually saved these horses during the second world war - there was only 300 left in the world and they were in an area being bombed and he had them moved to safety. Today thanks to careful breeding programs there are around 3000 of them. They are born black and start turning white between the ages of 6-10 years although there are some rare ones that stay black. The was also beautiful Arab horses too in the show too and they did some wonderful dancing with the flamenco dancers. The shows is travelling all over the USA and Mom says if they comes to a town near you don't hesitate about going to see it - you can check their website for the schedule.

  7. Wow! They are magnificent! However, we don't think that justifies their neglect of you two! The reason our mom is trying to email your mom is to get photos of you to be used on the BAR float on the Valentine's Day Parade and the BAR blog. Can you send them to us at cecampbell@msn.com?

    Keep Calm and Bark On!

  20. About six years ago I saw the World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions On the US Tour truly they were fantastic. I believe they are the only horse that can jump and kick all fours at the same time. I had a front row seat and I would see them again. I remember a Disney movie I saw as a kid about the rescue of these famous horses and how we stole them from right under Nazi Germany nose.
    Thanks for being a friend
